Pacman suspended at least 4 games for violating conduct policy
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
ESPN.com news services
ST. PETERSBURG, Fla. -- The verdict is in: Pacman is out again.
Dallas Cowboys cornerback Adam "Pacman" Jones has been suspended for at least four games for his most recent violation of the league's personal conduct policy, the NFL announced Tuesday.
The league said Jones was involved in an alcohol-related incident at a Dallas hotel on Oct. 8. Previous reports indicated Jones was involved in an alcohol-related scuffle with a bodyguard assigned to him by the Cowboys, and that hotel employees called the police.
Jones will not be paid during the suspension. Commissioner Roger Goodell will determine the ultimate length of Jones' suspension after Dallas' Week 11 game against Washington on Nov. 16.
"He does need to address the kinds of things that seem to be with him at various times and one of those that he's dealt with for a really long time, he needs to address in a way that most of us might understand -- alcohol issues," Cowboys owner Jerry Jones told ESPN.com's Pat Yasinskas.
"I am disappointed for him and his opportunity and for the Cowboys and our opportunity and, frankly, for the NFL," Jones said. "I would like to have been standing here talking about his success and the curtain coming up for him and addressing his issues. That certainly would have been more positive."
In his letter to Jones informing him of his latest suspension, Goodell said Jones' "disturbing pattern of behavior was clearly inconsistent with the conditions I set for your continued participation in the NFL."
League and law enforcement sources told ESPN senior NFL analyst Chris Mortensen that Goodell was expected to weigh whether Jones was in potential violation of his probation, in which he was prohibited from alcohol-related incidents.
When Goodell reinstated Jones from suspension before the regular season began, sources said one of the commissioner's conditions for Jones to remain an active player was that he remain in compliance with all aspects of his three-year probation from when he pleaded no contest last February to a felony in Fayette County, Ga.
Police reported that Jones might have been drinking when he was involved in the scuffle with a Cowboys-assigned bodyguard last week in Dallas. But Jerry Jones has refuted many of the allegations and speculation. Even though police were called to the scene, no arrests were made or charges filed.
"We respect and support the decision of the commissioner," Jones said in a statement earlier Tuesday. "I regret that this issue has brought negative attention to the Cowboys and the NFL. We move forward with a very clear knowledge as to what the process will be for a possible reinstatement. Adam is well aware of where he stands and what he has to do."
Jones began his time in Dallas under close scrutiny by the league after he was suspended for the entire 2007 season for multiple violations of the conduct policy while he was a member of the Tennessee Titans. The Cowboys traded for Jones before his suspension was over and he was reinstated by Goodell on Aug. 28.
Goodell also said his decision on whether Jones can return to play will be based on Jones' strict compliance with the NFL and the Cowboys in relation to treatment plans and evaluations by clinical experts.
"I'd like to see him intensify his approach to getting better with his social conduct," Jerry Jones told ESPN.com. "I'd like to see that. If it were successful, I'd like to be a part of it. I'd like to have influenced it. I know the commissioner, considering his conduct policies in the NFL, it was a well-considered decision to let Adam back into the NFL."
The Cowboys owner said he does not regret making the trade that brought Adam Jones to Dallas.
"I don't regret having been a part of helping him do better," Jones told ESPN.com. "I am sorry that we've had the negative publicity and that is the price that we pay for the team as well as the NFL."

Romo 'down' after suffering broken pinkie in Cowboys' OT loss
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
ESPN.com news services
IRVING, Texas -- Dallas Cowboys quarterback Tony Romo has a broken finger on his throwing hand and could be out for up to four weeks.
Romo, who had started 30 straight regular-season games since replacing Drew Bledsoe in 2006, broke his right pinkie on the first play of overtime in a 30-24 loss at Arizona on Sunday.
"We don't know how long he'll be out. It depends on how fast that heals," coach Wade Phillips said Monday. "I'd say week to week, depending on quickly he heals. Different people heal differently."
The injury, which Phillips said won't require surgery, leaves the Cowboys (4-2) with 40-year-old Brad Johnson as the starter. Johnson, who won a Super Bowl with Tampa Bay, hasn't started a game since 2006 in Minnesota.
The Cowboys had no plans Monday to sign a veteran quarterback or trade for one before Tuesday's trade deadline, a team source told ESPN's Michael Smith.
Romo missed on three straight passes to start the overtime, having passed for 321 yards and three touchdowns despite heavy pressure. He was sacked three times and knocked down 19 times.
"Obviously, he had trouble throwing the ball that last series in overtime," Phillips said.
Romo, whose hand was heavily wrapped after the game, fumbled three times Sunday, losing one, but didn't throw an interception for the first time in the last nine games.
The Cowboys quarterback was feeling "down" about the injury, a source close to Romo who had spoken with him Monday told ESPN's Ed Werder, though he likely will miss only three games, with the Cowboys' bye week coming four weeks from this past Sunday.
The Cowboys travel to St. Louis to play the Rams this Sunday before hosting the Buccaneers and playing the Giants at the Meadowlands.
Romo and agent Ken Kremer were in the process Monday of determining whether they will seek a second opinion from a specialist.
Neither Romo nor Johnson was in the locker room Monday when it was open to reporters.
When linebacker Greg Ellis was told about Romo's broken finger, he got a somewhat stunned looked on his face and exclaimed, "Wow!"
Linebacker Bradie James said the players will have to rally around each other.
"We've got to play relentless football now without our signal caller, our leader, our captain on the offensive side," James said. "That's the thing about a season; you never know what can happen. You hope you are playing some real good ball when things go down, so here we are and now we've got to make some adjustments and move on."
Receiver Terrell Owens refused comment, getting agitated when he saw cameras recording him.
"Today is not Wednesday," he said, referring to the day he routinely talks to reporters.
Through Sunday's games, Romo ranked second in NFC passing with a 103.5 rating. He has thrown for 14 touchdowns and been intercepted five times. He had his team-record 14th career 300-yard passing game Sunday in his 32nd start. That broke a tie with Troy Aikman, whose 13 were accomplished in 165 starts.
In 2007, his first full season as a starter, Romo led the Cowboys to a 13-3 record, best in the NFC. He set team records with 335 completions for 4,211 yards and 36 touchdowns, including the team-record 15 receiving by Owens, in a season that ended with a loss to the Giants in the first round of the playoffs.
Johnson quarterbacked the Buccaneers to the NFL championship in 2002. He has been Romo's backup since last season and threw only 11 passes in 2007.
Johnson, in his second year as Cowboys backup, has only seen brief mop-up duty in Dallas, going 7-for-11 for 79 yards. Before coming to Dallas, Johnson started 122 of his 145 career games with Minnesota (1993-98, 2005-06), Washington (1999-2000) and Tampa Bay (2001-04).
Johnson has completed 2,627 of 4,248 career passes (61.8 percent) for 28,627 yards with 164 touchdowns and 117 interceptions. He passed for 2,750 yards in 2006 with nine TDs and 15 interceptions -- only the third time in his career with more interceptions than TDs.
"It's going to be Brad to go in there and prove that he's not just here for the ride, he's part of this thing," Ellis said. "Every opportunity I've seen Brad step in on other teams, he's able to hold it down and get it done."
Another former Viking, Brooks Bollinger, will be Johnson's backup.
The Cowboys will also be without receiver Sam Hurd, who will undergo surgery for a high ankle sprain and miss the rest of the season.
Hurd, who hadn't caught a pass this season after first injuring the ankle in the Cowboys' final preseason game, had 314 yards on 19 receptions in 2007.
The Cowboys were awaiting MRI results Monday for backup running back Felix Jones, who suffered a strained hamstring Sunday.
Punter Mat McBriar, who was carted off the field after his kick was blocked on the game's final play, also was having an MRI.

Lose to Zona in OT................
It'll be a almost perfect weekend if the Phils win tonight.
Eagles win, Penn State romps, Cowboys lose,
on a Mon. night game. That's something good.
But I have to admit that the Birds were awful disappointing the past two weeks...........
The Cowboys haven't been lighting up the world and it's still early. We'll see in December when Romo starts doing his annual winter fade and both teams will be watching the dance at Tampa on TV.
.....especially us White Sox fans.
But I still have faith in my BEARS!
!
I am a true cowboy fan, but is it me or are they playing like crap. They better get there ish together before they come out here to the desert. The cardinals looked very good last week. So romo better stop falling asleep and play football in the second half. If not cardinals are going to run all over them..........
got awfully quiet since their team is 2-3...
.

no predictions for the wk?
I was referring to fair weather Cowboys fans who happen to reside in the Keystone state.
For summing up Eagles fans in one word.
Rest my case
The b3agles suck!
Your predictions?
talk it up...
so they beat the Twinkies at home...on to Tampa for a butt whuppin. Bye Bye White Sox....the only true Sox team is the Red Sox.

White Sox win!!!
7th inning White Sox 1, Twins 0.
Murph: Where did you grow up in Chicago? In the city or burbs?
My wife and I love Chicago and would be open to move back somewhere down the line.
Count me as your second. I guess for me it's because my loyalty lies with the city where I grew up. I don't follow baseball so either hometown team that wins is still better than any other.
Then again maybe it's because I am "A Murphy" and damn proud of it!
Clint: I have to say you're the first. I lived in Naperville (Western suburb of Chicago) for four years and never met a fanof both. Typically, they loved one and hated the other. The same logic applied during my time in Long Island with the Yankees & Mets. I've never met a fan of both teams.
I am a White Sox fan first, but I love the Cubs too...I love my city and all of their teams, even when they are losing. Go Blackhawks!
White Sox or Cubs? You can't be a fan of them both. You don't hear any Yankee fans go "If we don't win it the Mets will."...
Da BEARS!
White Sox
Cubs
Two of those greats are going to win it all!
The BEARS!
won't be winning a Super Bowl any time soon, so you can suffer alongside of the B3agles fans!!
Oh, by the way I will enjoy watching your Sox choke it up tonight.
also be that they have consumed far too many "Roethles'burgers'" and can no longer reach the keyboard!
But I'd rather be a b3agles fan than a cowgirls fan.
also be that they have consumed far too many "Roethles'burgers'" and can no longer reach the keyboard!

it could be that they like suffering so they choose to root for the Eagles. In some sick, twisted way they enjoy the agony that the Eagles (and Phillies) provide when they choke.
there are just more Milts from the Eastern part of Pa. than the western....
why are there more Eagles fans than Steelers fans on themilt? Did anyone watch the Steelers game last night?
the incessant arguing? Geez Wil, I've noticed that you are very argumentative. Must you always have the last word? Is it really that big a deal?
but your subject said, "According to Mr. Murphy" then you said
so umm yeah you were trying to bust me but failed miserably.
again, not talking about a Murphy here ya'll are so defensive.
Was speaking about Clay's remark of coming in AFTER THE FACT "date posted 9/13/07. That's two weeks ago for games
If you read what I wrote you would see I said, "Sorry it wasn't a week ago."
7 days ago was 9/13. By most people's accounting that would be 16 days ago
Da BEARS!
ARE worthy, and we have The Colts game to gauge it on....so why aren't they a choice? :-D
(Posted on 09/13/08)
He's just being a Murphy come in after the fact and talk talk talk. It's alright, we Eagles fans talk our smack about our team ~ where was he during our days discussing the joys of Donovan and that wuss *hands tissues to Mike* T.O. We wanted to send both of 'em and Reid out of town on the front of an Amtrak.
At the same time, we loved 'em for getting that far in the playoffs.
Anyone who has read anything I have said about sports would know I am a BEARS!
Fan and have been so since I knew what football was. You are just being absurd.
What you're doing is straight out of the front runner/bandwagon jumper handbook. You can do whatever you want, but you look kind of petty front running like that. Where were you last week? We could have gone back and forth before you had one up on me. You're coming on here to collect a debt that you didn't earn. Even the Cowboys fans on here were man enough to put it on the line before the game.
obviously you miss the joys and contradictions of being an Eagles fan
that's standard read our local media.
who talks smack about his own team
*smirk*
he's a Murphy what do you expect?
He's lost his smack talking mojo maybe he needs some lessons or a brush up

If I don't brag about something that hasn't happened I can't brag about something that has happened?
won! :-P,
If you're not confident enough to talk smack in the week leading up to the game, don't do it after the game. Don't be that guy.
Da BEARS!
won!

rub it in....
