Training - 1964
The Schaffer's were Great House parents. I know that the picture was not Edgewood, if taken in 1964, For Edgewood wasn't built till 1967. They were my house parents first at Overview an older home near Katheren Hall. It was a senior div. home that I went to while in the eight grade. After about six months the whole unit went to a brand new home called Edgewood. The Shaffers always had ex,students dropping by to visit. You could always talk to the Shaffers about anything. This short note does not do justice in letting you know how good, kind, fair, and love by their students. As well I screwed up and was transfere to Canalview with the Edgins.
Both Mr. & Mrs. Shaffer have passed away now, But will be remember by most of their students as one of the best House Parents Team, and glad that they lived with them.

Great Picture. I do not have any pictures like this from the school at all, and I was there for 13 years. No pictures of House parents or anything. I know times were different back then. Maybe its why I am a picture fanatic these days. I have thousands of pictures of my children and grandchildren.
Its great to here good stories about house parents. You hear a lot of horror stories about some of the older house parents from back in the day. All in All I would say I had a good experience with my house parents.
