America is Now a Pro-Life Nation

For the first time since Gallup started surveying the country on this subject, more Americans self-identify as being "Pro-Life" than "Pro-Choice." And the turn around has been marked over the course of the past year. 51% of those surveyed now say they are "Pro-Life" whereas a year ago that number was just 44%. Those who declare themselves "Pro-Choice" saw their numbers fall from 50% in 2008 to just 42%.
So, what accounts for this sea-change? Could the election of Barack Obama have something to do with it? A staunch supporter of abortion rights who won in November by a margin of 8 million votes, it would seem unlikely that Obama's rise to power would coincide with a dramatic shift away from with "Pro-Choice" identification.
Then again, Obama has played the abortion issue differently from many politicians of the past, attempting to find common ground with anti-abortion supporters, and striving to reduce the number of unwanted pregnancies.
But a deeper look at Gallup's numbers reveals that the real movement in the polling history is coming from Republicans and Independents who lean rightward:
The percentage of Republicans (including independents who lean Republicans) calling themselves "pro-life" rose by 10 points over the past year, from 60% to 70%, while there has been essentially no change in the views of Democrats and Democratic leaners.
This shows that there are certainly enough Republicans left in America to make a statistical difference.

In NC, I became an area manager for Dupont Cape Fear and worked there until they sold the plant.

NC area is nothing but snakes, fleas and mosquito's. My brother in law was a lifer marine and I spent 2 summers in Jacksonville NC in 57 and 58. Lived on Tarawa Terrace. One hot and humid place.
What is your vocation Rick? What type of jobs are you looking for? There is still alot of employment going on in the South Jersey area. Not hit as hard as most areas in the country as far as employment.

Back in the late 80's I was laid off with a bunch of other guys, so thru friends I had in NC i headed down there and took a job digging ditches for Southern Ma Bell around coastal Carolina.
Talk about hot work, but it was a pay check and I wasn’t living of the government.
And man, talk about snakes…….they were everywhere.
Hopefully something will happen soon, if I was still a young buck, my butt would be back in the Marines.

I have seen is 9.1% from the US government. It is calculated by the amount of people who apply for unemployment compensation each month. Once you are no longer on the rolls, you do not count as being unemployed by the government stats. It is a way to keep the real figure lower then the actual amount. It is a form of fuzzy math.
Is the only one I believe, but I don’t know that much about it.
Has anyone else noticed how even though every month more and more people lose their jobs, the unemployment stays below 8.5
And that is depending on what poll you hear the information from.
Is it based on the actual number of people unemployed, or the number of people receiving unemployment?
Some news agencies say that the actual percentage of unemployed people in around 13%
All I can say for sure is the woods here behind the old Acme store has more and more people living in them.
may affect the numbers by bias polling. This poll has been the same for over 30 years. It is done to show how Americans feel about a particular subject. Gallup is paid a yearly subscription fee so the payers can publish the results of "all" Gallup's polls. This is not a privately funded poll. No bias group paying to get the results they want. This poll is a microcosm of the American publics view and is only and average with a + or - of whatever it is, usually 3 to 4 percent.
I will believe a public opinion poll when they have the capability to ask every adult citizen the same question and get accurate numbers. Otherwise the random samplings will never be close to providing a true representation of public opinion. Also, always question who paid for the poll. Gallup et al don't do that for free, ya know.

I agree with Ricks statement on abortion. The welfare of the mother or child is at stake, rape or incest. I then believe the morning after pill should be used for the last two.
We just had a new Secretary of Health and Human Relations approved to be in Obama's cabinet. Kathleen Sebelious, the former governor of Kansas, is that person. To me that is an insult to any American who cares about children. She passed a bill that not only said partial birth abortions is ok, but that if the abortion fails and the child is born alive it is ok to abort (kill, murder) the born alive baby. How could this person be in charge of Health? Just one of the changes Obama was voted in office for. 
Now God is another thing.
Abortion, I don’t fall under ether category, I believe that if a couple knows that their child is going to be born with a great handicap, then that’s up to them.
But, I don’t agree with those who use abortion as a method of birth control either, just as I don’t agree with people who have child after child in order to increase their entitlement from our taxes.
The Death Penalty.-I believe in the original Ten Commandments, especially –
# 6 Thou shall not do murder. Notice it says Murder, Not Kill.
I believe that those that commit rape, child molestation, or kill ones family member, is justified in the eyes of the lord to be put to death by the means set forth by the 613 commandments and their source in scripture, as written in the Torah.
Many people say that we shouldn’t kill and use that to cover everything from killing animals to carrying out judicial punishment.
However
Think of it this way, through the violation of the Christian 5th commandment, the human race was saved and given the gift of salvation.
I also believe that if the major religions of the day can’t even agree on the order to the commandments,
How can we expect them to get the rest of the bible right.

of the pro-life movement and have been for more years then most of you have been on this earth. Pro-life as to the abortion message is far different then lets say Capital Punishment or killing. I strongly believe in both. God was the ultimate Capital Punisher.
