The rapture
Hey Clay I wasn't sure you were signed up for the debate club or not. So if you are this is what I would have to say to the rapture belief you had brought up.

The word rapture appears no where in the Bible, so you are right to say that the rapture is not in the bible. But, the idea or description even of what we call the rapture is in the Bible.
Matthew 24:36-41 - "No one knows about that day or hour, not even the angels in heaven, nor the Son,[f] but only the Father. As it was in the days of Noah, so it will be at the coming of the Son of Man. For in the days before the flood, people were eating and drinking, marrying and giving in marriage, up to the day Noah entered the ark; and they knew nothing about what would happen until the flood came and took them all away. That is how it will be at the coming of the Son of Man. Two men will be in the field; one will be taken and the other left. Two women will be grinding with a hand mill; one will be taken and the other left."
Luke 17:26-37 -- "Just as it was in the days of Noah, so also will it be in the days of the Son of Man. People were eating, drinking, marrying and being given in marriage up to the day Noah entered the ark. Then the flood came and destroyed them all. It was the same in the days of Lot. People were eating and drinking, buying and selling, planting and building. But the day Lot left Sodom, fire and sulfur rained down from heaven and destroyed them all. It will be just like this on the day the Son of Man is revealed. On that day no one who is on the roof of his house, with his goods inside, should go down to get them. Likewise, no one in the field should go back for anything. Remember Lot's wife! Whoever tries to keep his life will lose it, and whoever loses his life will preserve it. I tell you, on that night two people will be in one bed; one will be taken and the other left. Two women will be grinding grain together; one will be taken and the other left. Where, Lord?" they asked. He replied, "Where there is a dead body, there the vultures will gather."
I Thess. 4:17 "...who are still alive and are left will be caught up together with them in the clouds to meet the Lord in the air...."
The word rapture means the same thing. I am not saying that you should or have to believe in it. But to say that it is new is definitely not true because the bible was written a long time ago, definitely longer ago than the LDS (Mormons). Jesus Himself spoke of these days so it is at least 2000 years old.
Sorry Clint I moved this to "The Sancuary" The "Debate Club" is for MHS politics.
Here's a question for you all.
You believe that we should maintain a close relationship with Israel, because...
a. they are the only democracy in the middle east.
b. the bible states that God wants me to support Israel no matter what.
Deuteronomy 7:6
"For you are a holy people to the LORD your God; the LORD your God has chosen you to be a people for Himself, a special treasure above all the peoples on the face of the earth."
Romans 10:1:
"Brethren, my heart's desire and prayer to God for Israel is that they may be saved."
Personally I choose A, but we need to hold them more accountable for their actions.
I am not getting involved in this topic........ I just want to say can I get a amen Danielle!
I read your post and it reminded me of when I would go to church, must say I got a little chill!
Like the Adam and Eve joke. Very cute.
Likely, Adam and Eve's offspring Cain married one of his sisters. Adam and Eve were created perfect, so the problems associated with incest were not a factor. God told Adam and Eve to multiply and fill the earth. (Gen. 1:28) Adam and Eve themselves couldn't fill the earth so it makes sense that there offspring would marry one another. It wasn't till God gave his laws to the nation of Isreal that incest was forbade and anyone who did would be put to death. (Leviticus 18:8-17) I encourage you to look it up in the scriptures.
The best way to make a valid point is to have scripture to back you up.
Maybe he is suggesting that Adam and Eve are from Arkansas.
Someone has to be here to save the non belivers....
I am actually a little terrified to get involved in this discussion because people fighting and arguing over religion and more specifically the Bible makes me nervous but with that being said....The way that I have been taught is this-- because this is what the Bible tells us...
When "the Rapture" happens ALL Christians will be called up with Christ. First the Lord Himself will descend from Heaven and the Christians that are dead will rise first, then the living ones that remain on the Earth will simultaneouly be caught up with the resurrected dead in the clouds to meet the Lord in the air and will always for eternity be with the Lord. We learn this in 1 Thes 4:16-17.
BUT...
Revelation Chapter 7 tells us that during the Great Tribulation, which lasts 7 years and is after "the Rapture", God Himself saves 144,000 Jews. Then they say... Our Salvation is due to our God, Who is seated on the throne, and to the Lamb. Rev 7:10
God saves them, not "left behind" Christians.
We know the earth is not flat. Just an observation of the fact the Bible already recorded it before man scientifically proved it.

themilt.com takes more strength b/c of the ostracising you receive if you do not agree.
You mean to tell me the earth isn't flat. The Flat Earth Society will argue that point.
If you take everyone whoever was on this earth and line them up naked, how would you tell Adam and Eve from the rest of the people?
They would have no naval (belly button).
Adam and Eve started the human evolution Right? Then how did the population grow from there. Did their kids have to be incestuous? Who did they marry and have kids with?
In the old testament God was a belligerent and fiery sort. Floods, turning people into stone and fires that destroyed cities and people. An eye for an eye type of deity. Then his kid came along and was the complete opposite in the new testament. Turn the other cheek kind of guy. Why is that?
If Jesus was a Jew and the son of God, why do the Jews deny this and only look at him as a disciple of God? Why do Jews, the first religion of 1 God, not recognize the new testament at all. The Jews were there during this time. Please help me on these questions.

The Bible has been proven accurate. Did you know the Bible recorded in advance that the earth was hanging on nothing (Job 26:7) and that it was round (Isaiah 40:20) Thousands of yrs before science actually confirmed it.
"There is no strength in unbelief. Even the unbelief of what is false is no source of might. It is the truth shining from behind that gives the strength to disbelieve."
-- George MacDonald
I understand you don't believe it and I am fine with that. I am not telling you that you have to believe in it.
discuss it in only a positive way? Ok, I think the rapture is just a crutch to give one hope for their after life. It has no basis of fact. The bible isn't accurate and the teaching of religion are all bias to mans beliefs. I see no rapture in the fiture.
Now we are discussing?

I have no problem with your opinions and I am not telling you not to share them. I am saying that there are times and places of relevance. THIS TOPIC was intended to DISCUSS the RAPTURE!!!!!! You have done anything except discuss the rapture. THAT IS WHAT I HAVE A PROBLEM WITH!!! WHY IS THAT SO HARD FOR YOU TO UNDERSTAND?!?!!
Your remarks below. LMAO If someone doesn't agree with you, all you want to do is run and hide? I am an antagonist. I do it to learn about subjects and about people. If we do not question then we learn nothing. Whats wronfg with answering? I will answer any question presented to me. I hide nothing. No one has to agree with my answers and that is fine by me. Why don't you stop crying and ostrasizing others for their views? An open mind isn't that dangerous. Give it a shot. You may like it.
I know that some here agree with you and that is fine. I have no problem with that, but as you say or as I say, "This is a free country and we have the freedom of expression" just not here or on MHSAA.org. I will take back my comment about here although some here would like to be the same as MHSAA,org.
Opinions are like assholes and we all have them.

I understand you do not believe in it....and then all there is really for you to say if you so feel absolutely that you have to and your life won't be complete otherwise is that you don't believe in it. But then that wouldn't make much sense. And if you wanted to just come in here to say that people shouldn't believe because you don't believe fine. But to make a statement like you did about us, "disappearing" indicating you made some undeniable evidence that shut us up or something was just absurd. Of course, as you have pointed out, you are free to go anywhere on anyone's forums and just talk about whatever the heck you feel like talking about because after all this is a free country. So I am just wasting my time even responding. Which is why I didn't originally and I should have just left it at that. Because after all of this time I have so come to realize you just can't go on living without causing unnecessary friction which causes no intelligent conversation and doesn't even come close to causing the reader to think. All your input really does is provide a way for people to react. Which in a forum where people come to discuss ideas it is truly nonconstructive. Ok I am done my rant.

Religion and politics are 2 very touchy subjects... one wrong word and you can really rub someone the wrong way
I do not believe in it. I do not want to criticize your belief. That is btw you and your God. That is why I have not aproach it in that manner.

I don't think he's catching on yet Clint...
Is that you didn't even aproach the subject of the rapture, which is what this is supposed to be about.
Religion and politics. I love them both. You and/or I can learn a lot by what people say on these subjects. Like the rapture, I didn't bring the subject up and I just responded to other posts. Isn't that what a forum is all about? If someone disagrees on a subject they get ostracized here by some. Bring it on as I am a big boy and can handle it and I hope to be respectful doing it. If I am not respectful, then please let me know.

Agnostic is the word that describes me and at times I may be an antagonist, but what is wrong with that? keeps people awake and on their toes. It is also fun.
Of all the people shouting here you are shouting the loudest. Just calling them as I see them. I was just trying to have a discussion about the rapture view and you had to let me know that you keep your beliefs to yourself. Sounds more like you have something to prove than I do.
And gee...I never would have guessed you were an agnostic, I am so glad you were able to clue me in. (Are you sure you are not confusing agnostic with antagonist?)
but I am an agnostic. If you want to shout go right ahead.
unc
PS...Steve, your sarcasm wasn't necessary. See late as always.
has alot to say for a topic that is between him and one other entity...
We were just having a discussion UNC, it was over............. you're late as always...
when you said, "they disappeared" it just made the indication to me that you were speaking to all of us. And if your faith is between you and God why are you sharing it with everyone here?
wasn't an answer to you. I never said anyone was shouting. I said "the more you shout". "You" meaning people at large. I really don't care what faith or religion anyone is. To each his own. My thought has always been it should be btw you and God. That is it.
To me personally, the bible is a bunch of stories written 100's of years after Christs death and interpreted into many languages and changed during each interpretation. I guess what I am trying to say is the bible is a book of fiction. That is just my opinion and I could be wrong. I defend your right and anyone's right to believe in the bible or whatever faith you have.

I started this topic to talk about the rapture not to argue about whether my faith is right or wrong. Since nothing in your statement has anything to do with discussing the rapture I had no response. (Besides the fact that it wasn't in the right place)
I am not into arguing and am just not interested in being accused of shouting about something that I was definitely not shouting about. So I didn't respond.
I get lost all the time and need a guide to show me the way. TY for moving them to a more on subject topic.
unc
talk is giving me a rupture. Your beliefs in God are btw you and God and no one else. I have always felt the more you shout about God, the more help you need. Church and religion are man made and have nothing to do with God. Christians, Jews, Muslims and on and on think they are right in their teachings. Are any of them right? I think they are all wrong. It is all about your relationship with God.
unc
Chapters 2 and 3 of Revelation are 7 short letters to the 7 early churches, written by the Apostle John as directed by the Holy Spirit.
By the time you've finished reading these letters it is quite clear –
God is not pleased with most Christians. In fact he warns Christians that if they're 'lukewarm', he is going to 'spit' them out of his mouth (Rev. 3:16).
Because most Christians, according to Chapters 2 and 3 of Revelation, have half-hearted faith - they have not put God first in their lives and do not love God with all their heart, mind, and soul. Many still live lives of sexual immorality and many others do not follow the full teachings of the Bible and have turned to false teachers.
The movie 'Left Behind' gives the impression of most if not all Christians 'disappearing' in a pre-tribulation rapture.
The Bible however is clear that that is not going to be the case.
Most Christians are going to be left behind.
The pre-tribulation rapture is only for the Christians who have purified themselves through sanctification by the Holy Spirit, who have already endured trials and tribulations and having OVERCOME SIN, now present themselves as a Holy and Blameless church (Ephesians 5, Revelation 3:10).
You guys didn't post them here.
You posted them in the who do you think will be president poll.
Someone even commented as to why.
I will move them here though.
posted on the rapture and they disappeared?? Was wondering why ???

Very well said... I thought the same thing but didn't say anything. I didn't know this was a religious topic in the first place. I don't go to church and maybe I could go but my relationship is personal with God. I don't feel any better or worse because I belong to a group or congregation. Now if I had kids, then maybe I should go. Just to introduce them to it and let them decide how and where they want to take it.
I don't believe any will.
very few Christians will be pre-trib raptured. VERY FEW
Someone has to be here to save the non belivers....
You have been on my burn at the stake list for some time now Clay, you don't think you can get off of it that easily do you?
Now as far as the Pre-Tribulation Rapture theory you are right. It did come from 1830 and is a very new belief. I don't believe it at all.
The prevailing rapture theology....basically how it will go down, comes from Margaret McDonald's vision in 1830. The left behind series is based on this theology. A lot of people look at the theology behind the left behind series as gospel.
I made the mistake of questioning something related to faith. I am going to beg off of this discussion, because I don't want to open this powder keg. Plus I want to make sure that I stay off of the "burn at the stake list" that I am sure you guys keep...

is the right choice in my mind too. We need them as much as they need us. We may not agree on all their political decisions and defensive tactics, but that is their right to self-determine their existence.
Isn't part of the Apocalypse that the world will come to an end when the last Jew returns to the homeland? I just hope we always keep one Jew in prison here.
