RSS Feeds are here!
For those of you high tech web hippies out there. TheMilt.com now has RSS feeds.
Yeah, I've got Apple envy too.... I see the list, just didn't realize the screenshot was from it.
Quesiton is, what is the difference between using the reader or an internet browser like I do now?
BTW welcome to site DuJuan.
I would ask how you heard of the site but I already know. ;-) I saw your post on the mhs-pa site.
I am sorry you are suffering from Apple-envy I wish there was something I could do.
I am such an Apple fanboy it hurts. I think the GUI is gooey.
I think the iTunes look comes from the OS murf is using. Everything looks pretty much appleish instead of ..windowsish
(and I went to a _good_ school)
Don't mind me, I'm suffering Apple-envy.
it does kinda look like iTunes.
It is in fact my choice of RSS readers Shrook
I did list a site that has a bunch of choices if you are looking for an RSS feed reader.
The list is a comment on this post somewhere.
What if we don't LIKE (or have) iTunes?
You definitely watch too many Survivor episodes! :) Not that that's a bad thing either! You could be like the next new McGyvor(sp)!
Tree
your inner web hippy!
Hmmm... I think I vote for the fossilized cow dung. If you go on a camping trip you could grab it off the trophy shelf and use it to keep the embers burning all through the night. I think I watch to many survival shows.
The RSS thing is REALLY cool! I guess I've uncovered my high tech web hippy after all.
As for prizes, we should get like old pots from the milt or something like that. Maybe a piece of fossilized cow dung as a trophy!
What do ya think?

The points are acrued and when you reach certain amounts you are promoted to the next "Level"
Also you can see everyone sorted by userpoints on the left user info > users by points.
I will have to think about the prize thing. Any suggestions?
Thanks to you I'm a whole lot smarter now. :) BTW, what are the points for? I'm getting up there in points. Do I win a prize?

Basically It is a subscription to a certain content type that gets updated on a regular basis.
Example : The 80's Gallery
Insert the above link into an RSS feed reader. When there is a new picture uploaded into that gallery the RSS reader will update the feed. Here is a list of some popular readers.
Definition : RSS (an acronym for Really Simple Syndication) is a family of web feed formats used to publish frequently updated digital content, such as blogs, news feeds or podcasts. RSS is analogous to a table of contents. An RSS "feed" provides a table of contents for a site's content for a certain period of time; it does not provide the content itself, but links to the content. RSS is useful because it helps aggregate lots of content into an easily accessible place.
Users of RSS content use software programs called "feed readers" or "feed aggregators". The user subscribes to a feed by entering a link of the feed into the reader program. The reader can then check the user's subscribed feeds to see if any of those feeds have new content since the last time it was checked, and, if so, retrieve that content and present it to the user.
Mark,
I'm not a "high tech web hippie", but I'd like to know what RSS is. :)

if you have a browser that has built in RSS capability not much.
It's just another option for being notified of new content.
