Red Sox will win again

just in case anyone was currious how the baseball season was going to end.
Any coments from those so called philly and pittsburgh fans?

At first I thought it was going to be like how they defend Howard, but then I was thinking he is "NO" Howard.

BOSTON—As the 2009 baseball season progresses, major-league managers are defending against Red Sox catcher Jason Varitek by employing what they call the "Varitek Shift," a defensive maneuver in which infielders move up past the pitcher's mound and outfielders take a knee and relax. "It's very effective," Minnesota Twins manager Ron Gardenhire told reporters. "If Jason makes contact with the ball, which is rare in itself, he usually hits slow dribblers that catch infielders by surprise because of how weak they're hit. So, by moving the infielders up, and having the pitcher rush home plate after the pitch has been thrown, [Varitek] has virtually no chance of reaching base. If runners are on when he comes up, we may have the outfielders cover first, second, and third to ensure a double or triple play." Gardenhire added that it doesn't matter if the switch-hitting Varitek bats right- or left-handed, as the shift is foolproof
at least I was close.
it's Five dollar, Five dollar, foooooooooooot longgggggg.

Five dollar foooooooooooot longgggggg.
Big stick on the field, soft stick off of it.

I didn't say he never did them, I just imagine it would have been difficult to pass 15 tests in 5 years if you were doing them. If he did them prior to that I couldn't say and unless there is a smoking gun a la ARoid, Palmeiro etc...it is what it is.
And ARod "stated" that he had only used in Texas.
And Giambi "stated".....Washington, DC, I don't know what he was talking about.
And Palmiero testified that he'd never, EVER used.
And Pettitte "stated" he'd used just the one time.
And Bonds "stated" that he'd never used. His head got that big on it's own.
And Sheffield "stated" that he wasn't sure WHAT he was using.
They are all (baseball players) a bunch of chronic liars. At this point, the only guy I'm giving a pass to is David Eckstein.
They were all gooned up on the juice..
he has taken and passed 15 tests the past 5 years. So is it possible it happened before the championships yes, likely since then, probably not.
Since George Mitchell is on the BoSox board of directors, I wasn't shocked when no whiff of the steroid scandal eminated from Boston. Lo and behold, today Manny was suspended 50 games for use of a banned substance. Glory be!! On top of that, Big Papi has no homers and is barely hitting his weight as he attempts to kick the juice. I guess now if we're invalidating the Yankees' 4 championships in the 90's, we now have to do the same with the Red Sox' two.
I realize the Sox spend a good chunk of change, but the $400+ mil the Yanks threw around was astounding. Sabathia is probably the only one I can see coming close to earning what the Yanks paid for him.
I heard the Yanks were going to jack up their ticket prices another 4%. Is that so they can fix the aero problem they have in the new stadium?
You came out of hibernation? You can't compare what anyone else spent to what the Yankees spent. As far as Dice K, I'd rather the DL stint be now than later in the season. If he is still not recovering fast enough, maybe he could hit up Pettite or A-Roid for some good stuff to get him healed up faster.
By the way, the Phils should squeak in with a wild card birth. If the Mets aren't pi$$ed off enough to win the NL east this year (after choking the past 2), they won't for as long as I can see. Irrelevant as the AL takes the title this year. Even if it isn't my beloved Red Sox.
I don't care who wins, as long as it isn't the Red Sox. Red Sox spent, as always, plenty of money. Speaking of prolifigate spending, how's that Dice K thing working out?
Red Sox didn't spend a buttload of money like the Evil Empire, but seem to have a very good team with good chemistry. I think that the Red Sox fight there way past the Yanks and Rays as I don't think the rest of the AL did much to catch up. I can smell a championship without all the Manny BS.

Just the need to enjoy the moment at least until next season. I'm curious if the Phils will open their wallet because Hamels, Howard, & Shane Victorino will cost them a kings ransom. I've already conceded that Burrell is gone. He'll be a legitimate DH in the AL.
What do you think of the Cowboys/Giants matchup? I believe this is a "must win" game for Dallas.
already did or didn't you read this thread?
Give credit where credit is due loser
Oh yeah - Phillies 2008 World Champions!!!!!!!!
Howard will strike out 400 times....Hamels will have Tommy John surgery. Rollins will be entrenched in a biatch slapping fight with the Mets and Pedro Feliz will tear an abdominal muscle diving for a soft liner by Carlos Beltran.

Weird thing is that the Phillies vs. KC series is tied for the highest rated since 1968. It must have been TB that killed this one.
It sure looks like MLB never recovered from the strike.

Honestly if we started our own thread you wouldn't visit it and then who would we pick on. What fun would that be?
And Thank You!
:-Pthough for doing to Tampa what I thought Tampa would do to them.
can't even create their own thread....they had to post it on the Red Sox thread. Don't let them fool you into thinking they were so deliriously happy that they just started typing on this thread, they're just technologically challenged.

But just to add insult to injury!
GO PHILLIES! GO PHILLIES! GO PHILLIES!
(SORRY SCOTT I JUST COULDN'T RESIST!)
all in good fun, but arrrgggg.......
you would think Philly won the series. I must've been on a different channel.
But just to add insult to injury!

Hey Murph I think winning the "WORLD SERIES" deserves the Phillies to have a special little picture thingy like the other teams whom didn't even make it to the "WORLD SERIES" like the Phillies did. Anyway I think WINNING THE WORLD SERIES the Phillies deserve to have one. Did I mention the "PHILLIES WON THE WORLD SERIES."
GO PHILLIES! GO PHILLIES! GO PHILLIES!
Finally we have a championship again!!
The Phillies are the World Series Champs, what a great season!!!! This is a great win to all the Phillies fans on here congratulations to you as well!!! Sorry Redsox fans
maybe next year
My dad and step mom live in St. Pete and are both from Philly.
You and some fellow Philly fans on the way to Tampa to stab you some folks or what? I thought that was only an Eagles game thing.
The Saint Pete area has a huge contingent of relocated Philadelphians.
You and some fellow Philly fans on the way to Tampa to stab you some folks or what? I thought that was only an Eagles game thing.
You think that people in Tampa will watch the games???? Wait until you see how much red will be in the stands in Tampa.
that really hurt to say didn't it?
If the BoSox pull this off, they'll go down as one of the best clutch teams in sports history.
all those fans waking up screaming at sportscenter.
here we go baby,
:-]
That's the sound of the channel being changed on all of the televisions outside of Philadelphia and Tampa when the World Series starts. Fox execs are on round the clock suicide watch.
Bobby Gills, why would I think Manny burnt the Phills? BOBO, he is at home, setting Tee times for the golf courses in Dominican Republic, while the Phillies are resting a preparing to WIN THE WORLD SERIES.
Yeah, sorry I was golfing the weekend of Homecoming, and I had a hockey game that weekend. But I am sure I will attend our 20th. No one invited me to the 88 homecoming party.

GO Phillies!
is in the house! I really wouldnt say Manny burnt us because he is at home now and we moved on, so we shall see. If anything we are in for some great baseball.
By the way you missed a great homecoming, planning on coming up next year for our 20th
OUT!
Rays are gonna burn them. Worse then Manny Ramirez did!
Looking forward to seeing the Phillies Playing the Tampa Rays.

So many words, early in the season, so little to late now.
if you could see me I'm praying right now.
the sox have come back from this before, but our pitching and hitting is not as productive as it has been in the past.
Who know's maybe the curse will work against the rays.
I work in advertising, our media buyer was telling us that the leuage and the networks wanted a dodgers/ sox match-up.
looks like it's not going to happen, oh well..... on to hockey!!! oh wait the celtics are comming up soon as well.
Trust me, I'd rather have the Red Sox................It would be a more interesting matchup but can't see them winning 3 in a row based on their pitching.
easy there big boy, the rays still need to win one more.

When the Red Sox traveled to Japan last year, traveling secretary Jack McCormick told players there was a 200-pound limit on personal belongings, to which Ramírez responded, "But I weigh over 200 pounds."
