I played Alto Sax in the marching band when I was there. Anyone else play? Remember band camp? Favorite commands were AGAIN. LOL I think I also remember wet tshirt contests in the July sun and a certain Clarinet player :koff koff: Dave Alverez peeing out the window on the way to a parade in VA.

Ok I know this post is old but

what band camp? Maybe it was after I left in'84. I feel really old 'cause when I was in flags/rifles it was called bandfront and Ms. Schilling was the director.

Re: One Time In Band Camp

I tried out for drums and did not make it, I was told it was because I was a girl. Also, tried out for band front, and did not make it. It just wasn't meant to be. My brother Chad on the other hand was in band and played the drums in IM Division. During the homecoming game they did not have enoung drums and Chad had to go out on the field w/ nothing. It was so funny, because he was just marching around looking so imbarrased. I did feel bad for him, but it was hilarious at the same time! LOL

Re: One Time In Band Camp

It wasn't band camp but we use to go to Atlantic City, NJ for the Miss America Pagent parade. It was my sophmore year, and we got there in plenty of time to be ready for the parade. As the parade is getting ready to start we have people catching up as we are stepping off. Since we carried a banner at the beginning in front of the color guard many of those watching knew we were from Hershey. We kept getting yells from the spectators to throw them a Hershey Bar. All was going OK till, I think it was Neil Felix(co77) Started yelling back I got your Hershey Bar right here. After the parade we found out what a disgrace we were and that we would never go to Atlantic City again. But then my senior year we made it back. Ashamed

I was in colorguard, i

I was in colorguard, i remember practicing in the rain cause mr stephan didnt care. i also remember times when the band would be working on music inside so the guard was outside, in the rain. and the one time, the band pissed mr stephan off and he sent them all home early. the guard had no idea. we went up to get the shuttle bus home and then when they didnt show up an hour late, we hunted mr stephan down and he was just like, OH.

Making the band

Well I wasn't in the Band, but does the Varsity Choir count...and New Horizions, and County Chorus, and District..... and so on.

Wow, that was fun reliving my "glorydays". I must say, Mrs. J and Mr. Schwalm definately left a lasting impression on me.
I wasn't a musician then but I am now, more than partly because of my time in the choir room.

Definitely. I loved Ty!

Definitely. I loved Ty! And to tell the truth I really didn't mind doing it over and over cause I didn't want to be the one going left when all 200 of the rest of the band was going right LOL I think I used to have nightmares about it.

Yeah, I remember "Band Camp" If it's what I'm thinking of.... The summer marching band sessions on the "Marching field" at senior hall?

Sousaphones (marching tubas) RULE!!!

OMG and Tiy and Phillipa as the "Major"s? What a couple of PERFECTIONISTS!!! (read that as 'tyrants' LOL)

When I was in band we were

When I was in band we were at our best. We went to Tyron PA and took 2nd for band and 4th for band front. We also placed in VA for the Apple Blossom parade. We were over 200 strong and worked our butts off.

Drum line....I remember having a major crush on Russ Medlin LOL

Wet tshirts contest - ok you were all more tame than we were..trust me, it was hot but the boys were wetting the girls shirts on purpose.

Drum Line

Hey everyone, I don't want to hear the complaint because of the little instruments...LOL. I was about 4'11 and 130lbs. (then)and we only had 3 Bass Drummers. Me, Jason Riggins, and Jackie Stroman(sp?) We remember the "AGAIN" command and then watching Brian Schell flip out. We were sunburnt from head to toe, and our wet t-shirt contests were just because we were sweating to bad.

I do however remember that we were just terrible during a band competition, so Jackie Stromman and Jason Riggins put down their bass drums and danced like the waltz all over the field.

Good thing that they were straight huh? LOL

I left the band my Junior year. Just up and quit because the leadership sucked. Glad I didn't give up on music though.

Choir and Band taught me a few things I suppose. I write my own stuff now. www.tagworld.com/dave_marshall

Peace, I'm out. ( I think that's what the kids say these days )

Sunburn

Playing the sax, I wore the neck strap. Everyday I would have to gently place the strap in the same "safe zone" because my neck was so burnt. I definitely feel for you.
