OBAMA'S CHURCH
This was sent to me from another Boy Scout leader:
Obama mentioned his church during his appearance with Oprah. It's the
Trinity Church of Christ. I found this interesting.
Obama's church: http://www.tucc.org/about.htm
Please read and go to this church' s website and read what is written there. It is very alarming. Barack Obama is a member of this church and is running for President of the U. S. If you look at the first page of their website, you will learn that this congregation has a non-negotiable commitment to Africa. No where is AMERICA even mentioned. Notice too, what color you will need to be if you should want to join Obama's church... B-L-A-C-K!!! Doesn't look like his choice of religion has improved much over his (former?) Muslim upbringing.
Are you aware that Obama's middle name is Mohammed? Strip away his nice looks, the big smile and smooth talk and what do you get? Certainly a racist, as plainly defined by the stated position of his church! And possibly a covert worshiper of the Muslim faith, even today. This guy desires to rule over America while his loyalty is totally vested in a Black Africa! I cannot believe this has not been all over the TV and newspapers. This is why it is so important to pass this message along to all of our family & friends. To think that Obama has even the slightest chance in the run for the presidency, is really scary. Click on the link below: This is the web page for the church Barack Obama belongs to:
that is not true, a copy of his birth certificate is available.....
Actually Obama's middle name is Husain. The truely remarkable thing is that years ago Obama leagally changed his name from Eric to Obama! and almost no one in the news reported this!
This can't be true because "Jesus Loves". I have lived in predominantely black North Philly for 2.5 years and know EXACTLY what you speak of and I thought it was racist until I "learned".
Thanks for something other than "lily white".
you know, i just happened to click on this, and i can't believe i hadn't commented on this thread.
sadly, when it comes to the Black Church[tm], you don't get it. to bring up a phrase from the 80s, it's a black thing, you wouldn't understand. trust me, i didn't want to go there, but it really really fits here. [heck, i'm black, but the only way that i "get it" is because i have relatives that were raised in the Black Church[tm], because i was not. my mother is, and i was raised, church of christ... just like ken starr, which says oh, so much.]
in order to understand the Black Church[tm], you need a really good grounding in american history, starting with the forced conversions from animism and islam to christianity, and continuing on with the forced segregation in facilities, and also including the splits in both the baptist AND lutheran churches over the status of black people. you *really* need to know all of this. you're not going to get it in "mainstream history" books, you have to educate yourself.
from roughly 1625 to 1965 state-sponsored racism towards africans and their descendants was perfectly legal and accepted in what is now the united states. [the spanish didn't have slaves in the bits that they had which are now the mainland united states before 1625; although they did have slaves in puerto rico.] this thread reads as if such racism never existed, which is really sad, as it shows that people are either willingly or unwillingly ignorant of the realities of the country during most of that time.
one of the results of three and a half centuries of state-sponsored racism is that there are top to bottom parallel institutions for black people in the united states. the national bar association, the national medical association, the HBCU system, the black fraternities and sororities, the black professional organizations.... and black churches.
one of the central messages in the Black Church[tm] is that of upliftment of black people; especially those in america. people looking in on that from the outside are often like "omg they hate white people, these people are bad!!!!eleventy-one1111"-- completely forgetting that since 1565, 1607, or 1620 [take your pick], what is now america [and, in fact, the whole "new world"] has always been about the advancement of white people: the exact location of the origin of the white people varied with the region of the americas where you were, but that's the case. the people who were already here when said white people showed up, and, later on, the africans brought across as slaves were at best and afterthought, and at worst, property through which white people could continue to accumulate wealth and build prosperity. when your legal system, justice system and economic system are all telling you that you can succeed in a place, all your church has to do is just ask for its 10% of your earnings that the bible says you're supposed to give. it doesn't have to help build you up; there are other institutions to do that.
you know, the religious institutions of successive waves of european immigrants to the united states that were deemed "not the right kind of white" have done the same thing that the black church did then, and continues to do now: give lessons in self-determination from the pulpit. the difference is that these later generations of europeans, nordics, slavs, italians... were assimilated into the "white power structure" even if they as individuals had little power of their own.
i know that messrs prescott, webster, prince, and bittner taught you at least SOME of these things; i'm guessing that you all just seemed to forget it.
okay, i suppose i need to stop now, as my son has just come home from school. i could elaborate more, if need be, however.
WHOA! You were trying to check Chelsea out and it didn't go so well. You should've just used a raincoat. I'm glad you and the Secret Service are on a first name basis. Now just WHERE did I put the number for America's Most Wanted?
Nope, not me, but one of them did get "escorted" out of the church.
He had a briefcase....in case you were wondering. DON'T EVER TRY TO APPROACH THE PRESIDENT CARRYING A BRIFCASE!
NOW we know about your arrest record from wayyy back when you appeared first on these boards. You tried to talk with the President and the Secret Service took you in! 2+2 = 4 Did you make CNN?
All I said was that if he doesn't profess to be religious then why go to church. I don't know if he does now, but when he was President him and his husband...I mean wife went with him. I had a couple of friends try to talk to them at church. (Of course who knew, they don't let you approach the president, even at church...something about secret police or some such someting.)
Faith isn't a structure, a sermon nor a certain degree of scheduled rites of ceremony. It's what's in one's heart and in the words of a holy text. Anything else but a personal communication between one and their Creator isn't truly faith. Yes, it is a gathering in faith to profess but it's an intense and deeply personal journey.
does Bill attend regularly? How frequently does he attend that church? What is the name of the church? Why do the Clinton's live apart most of their lives? Why does a religious man like Clinton become an career cheater and womanizer? He is a fine example of a Godly man, "NOT"!!!! My feeling that going to church is no more then just that. Living a Godly life is what is important.
unc
with Clint...if its he but not she WHATS up with that??? (as per the words that someone said about the Hil)
He goes to church every Sunday to profess that he doesn't profess a religion? I don't get it.
The reason some do in this country...for show.
If Bill Clinton didn't profess a religion why did he go to church every Sunday?
we could not vote for the Clinton's. They have no church and they profess no religion. Hillary is not a religious person, she is a secular progressive. I would not vote for her nor did I ever vote for Willy. Religion had nothing to do with it. Their lack of principles were the reason. Their liberal views were the reason.
Obama is a religious man, but I will not vote for him b/c of the same reasons I didn't or won't vote for any Clinton.

When I was stationed over seas and someone from home would ask me if it cost alot to live there or if it is cheaper there isn't always a good answer. So the way it became easy to understand was I take my dollar and exchange it for pesetas. Now I can buy something there. At the time let's say it cost a dollar here to buy a loaf of bread. You now have something people know about. So the answer is did I get more bread or less bread after I did the exchange for the pesetas?
What I am getting at here is we don't elect a person to office based on religion, we just don't consider the credible if it isn't a religion we are familiar with. Religion teaches us right from wrong. What may be right for one religion may be punishable by death in another. I was looking through the Equality Forum brochure and on page 11 it says, Homosexuality is punishable by death in some Muslim countries, including Saudi Arabia, Iran, Sudan and Yemen. I know in the early 80's if you was to ask a Turkish person to change religion you could be sent to prison. They could change religion , but they had to come to you and ask to become part of your religion.
So what I was trying to get at is by knowing and understanding a persons background we look at their religion to help understand their principles as to how they view the world should be led.
Never settle...move to another town!
Not from me the ACLU is too liberal even for me.
As I've said to Clint privately, enjoy a lively debate where we intensely discuss issues. Genuinely sorry if I pissed anyone off and no not lookin for the last word and I'm sincere in that.
How about, "Clint, you're a really good guy, and we would proclaim that you were a winner if it wasn't against this town's supid ordinance!" I will settle for that.
there is an ordinance in your town, can't have a billboard with those words on it!
Now can you put a billboard up in my town or something? It can just say, "Clint, you're a winner!"
You're a winner!!!
to even say ACLU! Who knows where this thread would go then.
the biggest Loser will be our country...
I can't win? What if I just proclaim myself as the winner? It works for my kids.
and that's EXACTLY his point!!!!!!
And he normally uses it in the context of the argument itself, NOT the content of the argument. Too many times in this society we feel the need to "win" or be "right", and it's just so unnecessary. And for the record, he has NEVER used it in regards to he and I.

I don't know if there is a "WIN" here.
"you don't have to win this one". He's so S-M-R-T, "smart"!!!!! (I know I spelled it wrong, it's a joke!)
ya honey!!!!!
This discussion could go on forever, and I'm not about to get involved except to say that in this instance I agree with Clint, and Steve, (I'm proud of you for walking away from Wil, and lowering your blood pressure!), it is not always important to have the last word. I'm proud of your military service and I think that is what I was talking about earlier in this thread. This country was founded on Christian principles. Look it up, read the works of our forefathers...and take some time to read the bible. Hmmmm.
I can't wait to see a non-Christian in the White House just to see what occurs. Jewish would probably be the first. With our lil nonsense in the middle east and the Muslim-extremists nonsense from President Bush a Muslim won't be seen. It's just representation of all that encompasses America which I'd like to see.
What did I say that made me sound worked up? Cause I am so far from worked up. Someone else was worked up, and I understand where he is coming from. This nation was founded on Christian Principles and it irritates some of us that there are some who are trying to strip the heritage of this nation and make it polytheistic. It was never polytheistic until the 60s.
As far as the last three presidents? There hasn't been a president in our history who didn't claim to believe in the christian-judeo God, so I am not really sure why you have pinpointed the last three...especially considering Reagan was probably more outspoken than the three previous.
I just want to reiterate, I am not angry and I am not worked up. Sorry if you perceived me that way.
No, on that I need to correct you. Say whatever you want, however you want, whenever you want from the lectern of your faith; again, any and all. I am stating keep it in your church (even if your church is tv) isn't it about time we allow people to not to have to hear this. I am not saying, as you seem to enjoy trying to pick through meaning, hide ~ totally the opposite ~ if you need to run through the streets and tout whatever faith it is you worship. I don't care.
I am tired of my politicians stating a "God" this or a "God" that. What if I don't believe in your God as a fully recognized born and bred US taxpaying citizen. Kind of offensive when some politico (usually from the south or midwest) blathers on. Kinda like the Milt forcing the Jewish kids to say the Lord's Prayer. They don't believe in the Christian Messiah but have to go against their religious beliefs and pray to whom they think is a false idol. HMmmm?
I believe we should have a colloquialy in regard to this we have representation of all religions not just one. Do not separate my words Clint. Your beliefs may not be another's. You find me arguementative I am not. I don't believe in your God. Which is allowed in this country. So, let us represent that.
You say they have the right to be and have been in that office. YOU are so correct. Doesn't mean I have to listen to it and their "ethics and mores". What if they vary from what my church and/or God believe? Interesting how that works? My public official touting something that may be blasphemous?
Interesting. I've had this conversation with a Doctorate in Divinity, a Imam and a rabbi (sounds like a joke huh?
) in an Episcopal Church. None of those present, (including my numbskull ex who was the Priest there) didn't get this worked up. It is about mutual respect. I've given you yours I have stated generalistics about people and belief in this country. You take it as an attack.
Clint, I could care if you do not believe in any God. I just don't need to hear it other than a random sound bite not a Presidential election. The last three always had the Christian Church angle. Has nothing to do with solving the major issues of the country. No disrespect to you nor anyone just doesn't have a place.
Is there an example where church and state being one does not violate the first amendment?
I definitely do NOT want the church to run our government. But, I also do not want our government to run our churches. But, that does not mean I want our churches to be muted from having any influence. And that is what Will was saying, he said, "keep your religion out of my tax paying public office", sorry but that is what I disagree with. The religious should not be muted, ever. They have every right to be in political office and have always been in political office.
I owe you an explanation, the comments that I later re-read did sound threatening I agree. But were not meant that way.
"Step up to the plate son I have a baseball bat with your name on it" is taken from a movie about a man and his grandson who take on the task of helping a boy who they stumble upon crying in a baseball dugout who recently moved with his family from India and is having a hard time making any friends in the small town that his father was transferred to as a doctor. The man and his grandson teach him about the great things this country have, baseball (hence the comment about the bat) apple pie and hiking, camping..etc... I said it to Will meaning that maybe he like so many others (liberal Democrats) need to step back and remember what we have cause they seem to sometimes forget and need the baseball bat story to remember!
And saying that I wished I lived closer to Philly.... Well, in my opinion the only way of speaking to Will is apparently face to face, cause he has a way of twisting peoples words to mean something other than what they were meant. That is why I said I would no longer reply to anything else here or elsewhere.
I'm not that kind of person, but when you provoke me I will spew words without explaining the background of what I'm saying in full because I'm frustrated and trying to get my point across quickly.... Sorry to you and Will both. But Will I meant what I said about not replying to you any longer.
Very well said, though, makes me want to head to Old City and get a refresher from our lovely folks at the Park Service. I agree it's time for the bully pulpits reign to end very ill advised. Obama should also FIRE his campaign manager for not muzzling the guy sooner.
One nation under God. That is the words used to form this country. Not 1 nation under Christianity. Our forefathers were very insightful about how they wrote our constitution. The laws of this land and the Ten Commandments are very similar. They are all faith in God based. This has nothing to do with any one religion, but only in the belief in God and the "right" to worship as we choose. Using the church as a bully pulpit isn't illegal, but I think ill advised. This is where I feel the Rev. Wright is making a mistake.

I'm speaking of the wide range of religions practiced in the United States by AMERICANS! This is nothing personal just a statement of the realities of the nation.
As for Muslims, do you have any Muslim friends, have you ever spoken to an Imam or participated in activities at a Mosque? Attended services at a synagogue? Been to a Buddhist Temple?
I have ~ expanded my very white Christian world and upbringing. I have friends of many backgrounds and faiths, (including those dreaded Middle Easterners), who have expanded my mind and thought process beyond my own religious beliefs, convictions and mores.
I apologize for speaking slightly educated about American History and the reality of american society. If you know me I don't have a problem with any religious conviction. Additionally, I thought we were discussing the media circus revolving remarks and how are some offended by this. When did I speak about you Steve or anyone related to this site?
I'm talking about you! And I'm done... I'm tired.. and not thinking straight cause you have pushed me too far. I do not anger easily, but you seem to make a game out of trying to piss people off. I will not reply to anymore of your posts anywhere, anymore....
Muslims need more voice in our country.... In my part of the country there are a few muslim "compounds" one of the homes in this compound was purchased from the company I work for, it needed some warranty service done to it, we sent out our service techs and they were watched by two guys that looked like they were from the movie matrix as they did their work. One of our guys opened a door to a hall bedroom to fix an misaligned door that he noticed as he was fixing some tile in the hallway and guess what the bedroom was lined with all around the wall? AK-47's, M-16 assault rifles...... what were they for? Deer hunting? Maybe dove hunting? They were immediately asked to get their tools and never come back. These compounds are closely watched by local cops and feds.
Yep I got a problem with it....
Are we Native American? Are we native americans that were displaced, desimated and encamped? The indian nations prior to the european peoples it's originally THEIR country. But, you don't believe Jews or Muslims should be in "our" country? The US Constitution would argue with that per native born citizenship.
now shut your mouth Will. You picked one of the very few topics I feel NEEDS to stay strong in our country. Or, soon it won't be OUR country anymore.......
This country was founded on Christian principles. Your thoughts are obviously not founded in Christian principles. Please do not try and represent Christian belief with hatred and threat of violence. WWJD
BINGO! Our founding fathers that built this great country were what? Christian! Not Muslim......... Afghanistan? Where did u want to go? They would love to hear you preach about how you need represented..... Me....I'm just plain tired of it. I bleed red, white and blue. How about you?
Because this country has people that have religious convictions that are not only yours? Thank you for proving why the media has picked up this issue on Trinity. You have proven why this is an issue!
BINGO! Our founding fathers that built this great country were what? Christian! Not Muslim......... Afghanistan? Where did u want to go? They would love to hear you preach about how you need represented..... Me....I'm just plain tired of it. I bleed red, white and blue. How about you?
That others in this country do not believe in Christianity? Drive around and look at how many synagogues, mosques and other places of worship? These exist across the country. There is no equal voice for those who do not believe in the Christian faith. I'm not arguing something anti-American or are Jews, Muslims, Buddhists etc non-Americans even if native born U.S. citizens? How can you be mad?
keep it simple stupid
I keep things easily understood, Will, I served my country in the military so assholes like you could speak as you so rightly deserve (well we will just leave this open for discussion) This country was founded on Christian beliefs. Not buddas, not islamic radicals or any other. Will, my statement is simple like it or leave it. My blood is boiling after reading the crap you always post about the "other religions" need to have a say in our country's affairs! Bull crap! Will I will gladly pay for and hand deliver a one way ticket for you to head off to the great foreign country that would so rightly treat you the way you deserve to be treated. Where to? And don't reply back with some crap about "oh but I do love my country" Dude if I lived closer to Philly...... grrrr
My blood pressure is skyrocketing right now........
I don't think anyone would argue that because it is in the bible it can not exist in government. Thou shall not steal does not violate the first amendment.
Is there an example where church and state being one does not violate the first amendment?
Government without Representation
Where were the Native Americans who's land was overtaken (i.e. stolen) their voice?

Is it really his birth certificate?
