North Campus under construction

I have to say I like the new homes much better than the ones that lepley built. The ones lepley built are to institutional. The new ones do remind me of the older homes. I loved being in cloverdale because it felt like a house not a unit. You guys know what I mean.
I like that they are spread out and not on top of each other and they are big that's good.
So what if they have to mow the grass, it won't kill 'em, it didn't kill us.

when Vanessa Wentzel (class of 85, but she got out), got into trouble...and had to work off her hours by picking up pebbles in the flower bed. It was tedious, and probably a little humbling for her, as we could all see her working, while we were watching "The Facts of Life" or something fun on tv. She was a pretty girl, but she needed some humbling, because she knew it! I was just a scrappy, smart mouthed sixth grader at the time!

on time we were raking, and I must have missed some leaves...(I don't think I liked the work, therefore, I don't think I was very thorough!) Mr. Kelly bent down picked up some leaves, and then threw them back down, saying, "See these, you missed them, now rake them up!" After all that, I ended up liking him. I had an appreciation for him. There were definitely worse houseparents.

The home I visited was very similar in layout and design to the old farm homes. It reminded me alot of Willow Wood, where I spent my years at MHS. The one main difference was the houseparent office set in the middle of the ground floor, where most of the common areas were visible from the office. The houseparent's and sub's apartment were adequate and certainly not lavish.
