Milts in the Military
This is for ALL Milts, in All the Military Branches to share how you feel your life at MHS affected your life in the military.
So to my fellow MHS Jar Heads, Squids, Doggies, Zoomies and Coasties,
Thank you all for your sacrifices.
Simper Fi….
Whatever you can do to make our veterans more comfortable the better. I know you will be a great Chaplain.
I was just elected as Post Chaplain for our American Legion. A few years ago I was 1st vice commander. I figured this is the place to encourage all past members of the military to get involved with a veterans organization.
There have been a lot of milts join and serve, I am proud to be part of that group. I hope i get the chance to meet others like us who served, would be nice to exchange "war stories".
Katie Couric, while interviewing a Marine sniper, asked:
"What do you feel...
when you shoot a Terrorist?"
The Marine shrugged and replied,
"A slight recoil."
Hers one for ya, the barracks was bombed (Beirut) when I had just started my A school as a PMEL Tech at Lowery afb, Denver Colorado.
Within six weeks most of us were packing up to go to Lejeune to be reassigned to FMF units.
The Gunny at Lowery assured us that once things were over that we would be re-assigned back to our A schools.
Well we all went and joined in the fun did our duty and came home.
Once we were back on Main Side, and we were getting re-assigned to our primary MOS,
There was a small group of us who had all been at Lowery together sitting on our sea bags waiting for our re-assignment.
Well, two days later,(Yea the Corps moves at the speed of snails with its paper work, fricken POG’s)
We were all handed our SRB's with our A school postings,….. 0811?...we all looked at each other..... what’s a 0811?
We thought we were all going back to Lowery to finish up PMEL school...........
Then we heard the Gunny laugh.
“Marines, the A in your A school stands for the Marine Corps Artillery School.”
“You are now all 0811’s.”
And the real kick in the butt about it was, he was telling us this as HE was leaving to catch a MAC Flight back to Lowery.
The Gunny,
He was a funny guy.
H*LL you should see me now, I went thru some medical stuff for my lungs and lost all my hair, it is coming back but man, for a while there I looked like we did from the first hair cuts at MCRD.
you mean like having to look at the nice picture of you.
get a haircut marine, where's your high and tight....

I know you will do well.
I hope to get re-established in a working role with the Marine Corps League once I am back on my feet.
But knowing this government, soon all veterans groups will be on their watch list.
Go get’em Bill,
Hey you will have to pull an Mr. Cook on them, every once in a while he would have this long drawn out benediction, pausing now and then so that you thought it was over, and then he would pick it up keep going.
Man Mr. Cook was the best!!!!!!!!!!!
