Why is this the way it is? I thought the good of the kids should come first. I thought the Deed of Trust should always come first. I thought the wishes of our founder and benefactor should always come first.

MHSAA should be the watchdog of MHS and of the BOM of the Trust. If not the MHSAA then who? Why have they dropped the ball. The leaders of MHSAA have been in office for over 3 years and what have they done? They are still broke. They have made good on improving relations with MHS and the BOM, but at what cost? Losing their independence isn't what MHSAA is all about. It is/was an independent group, but now it is just a yes group for whatever they are told by MHS and the BOM. It is good to work together, but not be a puppet.

Just my 2 cent which today doesn't seem like much.

Rather arrogant

Here you go again attacking the messenger but not the message.

Only 20%, at most, of alumni vote. That is a mandate for nothing. Most are either not aware or just don't care. You bank on that. You have a strong base, the Hershey 500. Johnny O. did a great job of uniting a group of alumni with the same thinking. Take away all the MHS jobs, the contracts to alumni, the BOM backing, the other conflicts and then there would be a fair playing field.

Why would anyone believe what I am saying? LOL Please tell me why they should believe you? PHC is my source of information and I am just the messenger and not the authority. That is why I made a post called "What is PHC". I 100% believe in PHC and have little faith in you, meaning the BOD of MHSAA, and your non performing achievements at MHSAA.

PS... I am not right about everything and if I am wrong about something I will say so and fix it at once.

Greatness According to Garner

Larry,
Why would anyone believe anything you say? My candid suggestion to you is to stop blowing smoke. You do not have the depth or knowledge of the membership of our association to call anyone “great.” How in the world could you? Can you imagine the criteria for making “Garner’s Great List.”

The membership always makes the final decision. They vote for the members of the Board of the Association. If you think the membership is displeased with the direction of the Board, then take the appropriate action. The Board is unaware of any such concerns.

I'm still waiting for the list of what PHC has done in the last two years. PHC President Strayer says it was a "LOT."

There are many great alumni

who are members of PHC and many others who support them. Brill has a personal hatred toward Lee and it really shows.

Just what would sitting with the MHSAA BOD solve? Nothing is the answer. The PHC wants an open and fair debate of the issues with all alumni who would like to come can. PHC wants it videoed and streamed on the Internet so every alumnus can see and witness the debate. PHC has been turned down several times. Let the alumni make the final judgement and then this puppy will be put to bed.

Brill comes here to attack PHC and mainly Lee, but did you notice nothing was in dispute about the PHC concerns and their facts they print for all alumni to see.

There are many people inside MHS who agree with PHC and supply PHC with information that MHS will not make public. PHC then lets all alumni and the OAG know what is REALLY HAPPENING. Kind of like Watergate II. It is kind of weird that the Democrats sweep Pa. but Corbett wins AG. The Dem. candidate said he would investigate PHC allegations while Corbett ignores them. Zimmerman a former Republican AG of PA and Corbett the Rep. AG now. I wonder how much support Corbett received from the Trust.

Strayer Baloney

PHC President Strayer has made many statements, claims and accusations. Most of PHC President Strayer’s “information” is communicated via letters, press releases and internet web sites. After the communication is “out there” and no response is received, PHC President Strayer, or another spokesperson for PHC, tells us that whatever was said must be true since there was no rebuttal.

I personally have challenged PHC President Strayer to sit down and discuss all his “information” about enrollment and retention. He refuses to do so. Apparently, PHC President Strayer has been able to obtain a summary chart of this information - either directly or indirectly - from a source inside the Milton Hershey School. There is a great deal of supporting information that is never displayed or discussed when PHC President Strayer “communicates” the information. In this particular area, what PHC President Strayer says is out of context which explains why he refuses to discuss it.

On a broader scale, the appropriate response by many has been to ignore PHC President Strayer. PHC has their own website and they can say with impunity whatever they want. There is no one on that website to rebut anything they say.

In general, I subscribe to the idea of ignoring PHC – until they agree to come to the table and have a civil discussion of whatever it is that is bothering them. However, that does not translate to a free pass to enable PHC President Strayer to say whatever he wants to. I did not open this thread – I just responded to some of his remarks. When PHC Strayer tells other alumni that PHC has done a “LOT” in the last two years it should be easy for him to provide the top 10 – in a very compact and condensed form. It should be easy for him to discuss financial data and fundraising results.

p.s. In an attempt to look “pure” PHC President Strayer alleges he is not “self serving” and implies that those who disagree with him are ”self serving." You will notice that he has not provided you with any facts of my “self serving.”

Sounds like a great deal.

A deal so good that MHSAA had to reinstate "Dues" from alumni. This quote below was not part of your first answer until I questioned mailing and printing. Did you notice the smiley face. Yes I knew the answer already.

Are you sure that is "ALL" MHS has done? Smiling ~ smiley face.

MHSAA produces four newsletters a year. Two of them are fully paid for by MHSAA. MHS produces "Thy Traditions Dear" twice a year. MHS and MHSAA have agreed to make these joint communications and MHSAA has about four pages for MHSAA "stuff." MHS pays for the printing and co-mailing of these four pages. Sounds like a good plan to me.

Lee, your posts as “Buddy Anello” suggest something entirely different. No one would have said what you did as “Buddy” if you just wanted people to remember him. Perhaps you forgot what you said as Buddy.

And believe me, who would ever want control of you? Some of your actions are beyond despicable.

You may find my actions "despicable"...but they're not self-serving. You may not like what I say yet I'm not thinking of suing anyone like others have of me and/or have done to a few others. Buddy Anello was a good friend of mine who I admired. He was a really hip guy and I have NO DOUBT if he were alive today you'd be battling with him as you do with Unc. I could go on and on Billy-Bob but why waste my time..."Nuf Ced"!

To answer a few things for Mr. Brill.

You are correct about the judges. Only going on my recollection can sometimes be dangerous. I was channeling the 2 judges who were putting kids in jail for cash. I believe somewhere I read the PSC judges were slow to act and I jumbled those two up. Nothing new, it has happened before. You stating it is a serious charge is funny. I will forgo the corrupt part and substitute incompetent.

Here is how I got confused:

Phila Inquirer Column

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Here is a new Phila. Inquirer column about how the PA. State Supreme Court was much more interested in intervening in local matters to make sure a casino got approved than in intervening to save kids from being sent to prison for cash.

LINK

By Daniel Rubin

Inquirer Columnist

"... where the state average for detention ranged between 8 and 10 percent, in Luzerne unrepresented kids were incarcerated around 60 percent of the time... So Juvenile Law Center attorneys asked the Pennsylvania Supreme Court to intervene, citing the case's extraordinary circumstances and extreme public interest. That was in April 2008. The state Attorney General and the Department of Public Welfare filed briefs supporting the Juvenile Law Center's position. Months went by.Hearing nothing, the law center made its case again in December, stating that the court needed to take jurisdiction because hundreds of children could have trouble getting into schools, obtaining financial aid, and being hired, all because of their tainted convictions.

Finally, on Jan. 8, in a one-sentence and unsigned opinion, the Supreme Court refused to take responsibility for the case.Three weeks later, the feds held a press conference: Ciavarella and Judge Michael T. Conahan had agreed to seven-year prison sentences for taking $2.6 million in kickbacks from the owners of private facilities. And one week after that, the Supreme Court issued its own news release, at last claiming jurisdiction and assigning a senior judge from Berks County to review thousands of cases that Ciavarella had heard.

How many children might have been spared the humiliation and denial of due process if the state Supreme Court had acted swiftly? ... Weren't the numbers the Juvenile Law Center cited damning?"
--------------------------------------------------------------------

Thank you for clearing up my error on the lawsuit to reestablish the agreement. I knew I should have stayed in a Holiday Inn Express. Smiling That was before my becoming involved with MHS again in 04. Please excuse my ignorance.

I feel better now. Try it sometime Mr. Brill, it is cathartic.

PA Supreme Court Justices

Larry, you state that
“The now corrupt judges of the Pa. Supreme Court overturned the lower court. There are several judges who were on the court then that are in big trouble now. I am willing to bet you that MHS and the BOM had great pull and influence on that court. This may not be 100% correct, but I am sure it is close.”

Can you tell me what PA Supreme Court Justices are “in big trouble now?” That is a very serious charge and I do hope you can support your charge.

"Fee for service"

In 2003 MHSAA received $25,000 from MHS for "contracted services." This was part of the "fee for service" contract. I do not think we are receiving that kind of money - it would be nice if we did.

MHSAA produces four newsletters a year. Two of them are fully paid for by MHSAA. MHS produces "Thy Traditions Dear" twice a year. Larry - Wrong Again

On 9/4/03 MHSAA filed a lawsuit against MHS, MHS BOM and the Office of the Attorney General requesting reinstatement of the 7/31/02 agreement – the very same agreement that MHSAA trashed on the day after it was released – the very same agreement that we alumni, at Homecoming 2002, were told by the alumni “leadership” was not worth the paper it was written on.

On 10/04/03 the Hershey Trust Co. filed an objection to the MHSAA 9/4/03 lawsuit. Their argument was that MHSAA lacked standing.

On 11/6/03 MHSAA filed a petition in support of standing.

So what you are saying

is MHS has given financial support. OK thank you. Has MHS helped in other ways like mailing and printing? Smiling

MHSAA never sued. MHSAA petitioned the Orphan court for "STANDING". Standing would have given MHSAA a voice in how the Trust was operating if not following the DOT. Big difference. That voice would have been to the AG, to make him aware of wrong doings and that was only if the Trust didn't follow the July 31st agreement. MHSAA at no time wanted to control the Trust or be involved with MHS in day to day operations and decisions. All MHSAA was seeking was to be a watchdog and the Common Pleas Court of Pa. agreed with them. The now corrupt judges of the Pa. Supreme Court overturned the lower court. There are several judges who were on the court then that are in big trouble now. I am willing to bet you that MHS and the BOM had great pull and influence on that court. This may not be 100% correct, but I am sure it is close. I am not a lawyer nor have I stayed in a Holiday Express lately.

Mr. Brills statement below:

"In the fall of 2003 MHSAA brought suit against MHS and others. If you were at MHS and you were giving money to MHSAA and then MHSAA sued you and behaved as MHSAA did, would you continue giving money to MHSAA? Would you support fundraisers of an organization that sued you? It might occur to you that some of this money would help the lawsuit"

To answer your other question to me about Lee and the use of Buddy's name. In hindsight it wasn't the best thing to do, but to call it despicable is way over the line. It did not offend me and yes I remember his posts. I can not speak for Buddy, but I know he loved MHS and his brothers and wouldn't want anything to harm MHS. Lee was and still is doing everything in his power to prevent harm to MHS and the DOT. So using his name was never to harm him, but to only gain attention for the cause he is still fighting today. It isn't always pretty how you engage in a battle, but it is the outcome that is point number 1 and that is BOM/Trust reform.

To me Lee is a hero and you're are a self server. That is my opinion.

No more "fee for service"

Larry,
The Rice/Fouad duo represented the “leadership” team for MHSAA in the 2002-2006 timeframe. In the fall of 2003 MHSAA brought suit against MHS and others. If you were at MHS and you were giving money to MHSAA and then MHSAA sued you and behaved as MHSAA did, would you continue giving money to MHSAA? Would you support fundraisers of an organization that sued you? It might occur to you that some of this money would help the lawsuit.

The election process in 2004, 2005, 2006, 2007 and 2008 has resulted in an MHSAA Board that has chosen to work with MHS and the students. We no longer have a “fee for service” contract.

In 2008 there were a couple of sources of income for MHSAA – from MHS.
1. On Sunday of Homecoming weekend MHS picks up the tab for a luncheon – honorary members, who were former MHS employees, are recognized at this luncheon. MHSAA charges for this event and MHSAA gets to keep the proceeds.
2. MHS was a sponsor of the golf tournament

In 2009 we may have a couple of additional opportunities.
1. A number of year ago, MHS launched an e-community activity. They recently terminated their effort and their expenditures and agreed to financially support MHSAA in our e-community efforts
2. There may be some centennial activities that MHSAA and MHS can share some monies.

Alumni use/pay for facilities at the Alumni Campus. There is a separate corporate entity that operates this. If you want to follow up, call the school to find out whom to approach.

You answer my question

first and then I will answer yours as I always do. I have asked it several times and you ignored it, as always.

Answer this question, Mr. Brill. How much money and free services from MHS has MHSAA been given in the last 2 years +? From 2003 to 2006 MHSAA got nothing and were forced to have extra expenses along with the Purcell and "friends" lawsuit that sued 2 fellow alumni and MHSAA. The "friends" are current BOD of MHSAA.

Lets put this to bed.

Buddy was my classmate and very close friend. His dieing for our freedom was the ultimate sacrifice. I will forever be grateful to Bruce "Buddy" Anello, my classmate, my brother, my protector and most of all my friend.

I took no offense to Lee using his name b/c he also was his friend. Brill, you have a non-issue here, except in your own mind. Get over it and stop making everything personal. You don't have a leg to stand on.

Since neither one of you will admit to being at Homecoming since 2003, what does “good times at Homecoming” mean?

Lee, since you refuse to answer what PHC has done, here are 2 from my list of 10.

PHC President Strayer used “Buddy Anello” as a username on the MHSAA Forum. President Strayer posted as “Buddy Anello” and as Lee Strayer on the same threads. President Strayer as “Buddy Anello” feigns little or no knowledge of MHSAA issues and asks “Where is the outrage.” President Strayer as “Buddy Anello" often “set up” President Strayer as Lee Strayer. Got all that? Other posters wondered who “Buddy Anello” really was, especially since Buddy Anello was deceased and was a casualty of the Vietnam War. When Lee Strayer was “outed” after over 400 posts using the name “Buddy Anello” some alumni were not surprised that it was Lee.

PHC President Strayer sent a letter to 53 Hershey area clergypersons. In the letter he states, among other things,
“We want to inform you of children who NOW could use your vocal and prayerful support, along with that of your congregations.”
“Please pray for them so thousands of needy children can be saved.”
The children that Lee was talking about were the Milton Hershey School students.
It is a 2 page letter with attachments written by Ric Fouad.
Lee got no response; however, MHS Pastor Mike Wagner had to send a follow up letter to all the clergypersons.

Lee, I hope you are not expecting me to post all 10 of them

You're apparent objective is to put me on the defensive which isn't working Billy-Bob. How many more times must I tell you that Buddy Anello and I were VERY good friends. We both played drums and were in the Varsity band together when I was in the 9th grade. Needless to say, he was MUCH better than me yet I idolized him.

At the time I chose to use his name I did it so people would remember him. Obviously those who knew him knew he died in the VietNam war so they knew it wasn't him. I was asked about using his name and though no one knew it was me, I did let all know that I was using him name in rememberance of a great homeboy. During that time, quite a few people were using multiple usernames...probably you were too though I don't know and don't care. Nonetheless, I made a post under SoupCan and then realized I wanted it under Buddy's name and did an edit. Tom Davidson caught the change and exposed what I did.

Now I could have denied it and it would have been his word against mine yet that's not my style and I admitted the factual truth immediately. Sad to say, though as usual, guys like you took it as an opportunity to wreck me. I'm sure those who are like you, cheer you on in doing this Billy-Bob while those who really know me don't.

And then you bring up the letter we of PHC sent to 53 clergy members. What's the problem with that Billy-Bob? Apparently you don't believe in freedom of speech in trying to connect with others. In doing this Billy-Bob, you come across to me as very dictatorial and like a control-freak which is why I must really frustrate you because you'll NEVER have control of me...no way

Bottom line? You're still wearing the black hat Billy-Bob. You're an officer of the Alumni Association and rather than constantly trying to wreck other alumni you and your buddy Carfagno should be trying to rebuild alumni relations. You don't nor do I believe you ever will.

I really feel sorry for you Billy-Bob and, even more so, all alumni who are being hurt by you and your ilk for doing what you do.

Strayer Pattern

Lee Strayer writes a couple of paragraphs called “There's MUCH that can be done gents...” Lee is asked a couple of simple follow-up questions about this – questions that have not been asked before. He refuses to answer.

Lee, I rarely suggest that you owe me any explanation - however, you certainly want to set the record straight and state the facts for all your followers.

The self appointed President of PHC wants another pass.

You, Billy-Bob, are an elected officer by a public organization whereas I'm with a private organization. I owe you NO explanations though I've given you many. You're so much like Bruce Campbell so why waste my time? If you want answers to your questions, go to our website and read the "STICKY" threads.

But then, I know you DO go to our website regularly. You're just trying to make yourself look like the good guy. Sorry, you're not!

Strayer, the President of PHC, brags that PHC has done a "LOT" during the past two years. Certainly the President can respond!
WHAT ARE THE TOP 10?

Strayer brags that MHSAA has had good fundraising in the past?
What are the facts?

President Strayer looks forward to restoring good times at Homecomng.
Strayer, when was the last time that you attended Homecoming?

Others, like Bruce Campbell, was pretty much like you in that, I believe, whatever the FACTUAL response was he'd ignore it and/or distort it. As a result, I've given up on your ability to accept the facts long ago Billy-Bob. When I do reply it's for the benefit of others...not you as it's a complete waste of my time.

That said...

Please keep in mind Billy-Bob that YOU are the one who should be answering questions relative to MHSAA as YOU are an elected member of the Board of Directors...I'm not, nor would I want to be as my mission is BOM/MHS reform in trying to restore our school/home to the mission of our benefactor. It's still a free country (well, kinda) so you can disagree with me all you want...just as I can do all I can in support of my benefactor.

So rather than taking your usual cheap shots Billy-Bob...why not act like you're suppose to as a member of our MHSAA? In other words, try to restore ALL alumni relations and though I wish MHSAA would be the MHS watchdog it once was...not to worry as PHC is handling that just fine.

a moron. I answered it and then Lee reiterated my statement. As always you never answer 1 question, but even when we answer yours you act like it never happened. Deny, Deny, Deny is your mantra.

You can't take the heat. So get out of the kitchen. Your burns are getting worse.Sticking out tongue

Seems fishy to me

Hilarious

Lee makes some statements and when asked for proof he deflects and plays dodgeball. Answer the question Lee.

Right on Unc...right on!

The truth is when MHSAA fought for Standing the Hershey chapter, MHS, VoR, Johnny O. and the BOM all joined together and stopped area businesses from supporting MHSAA golf tournament, threw MHSAA out to seek their own office, stopped all fee for services. Purcell and et el suing MHSAA and two of its directors (fellow homeboys). The biggest thing that they did was to not be apart of anything MHSAA did. There are more examples, but these are the ones that come to mind. Other have more knowledge.

You were one of the organizers back in the early 2000"s. Had a mass mail-out to all alumni and a dubiously obtained alumni list. Held special meeting to throw out or MHSAA BOD which the courts laughed at.I paraphrase, Started this meeting with a statement of only those who support this special meeting can stay and if others do to then they also agree.

Looking at the past two years, 2007 and 2008, you state that PHC has done a LOT. Let’s see the top 10.

Right on Unc...right on! You know...I'm really proud of you Unc for taking the time to research many matters pertaining to MHS and those of self-serving interests. You've learned, via your own research about most matters, that our benefactor's mission was NOT being adhered to, along with coming to the realization as to why that happened. I wish more and more alumni did what you've done because all would know that what you said in your post to Brill was RIGHT ON!

Oh...and don't be surprised if more and more attacks are made against you. I've experienced some really harsh ones as have others, i.e.; threats against me and my family and others. I expect more as should you because I truly believe those with self-serving interests alone will do anything to hurt others to secure their "Shepard's Pie" for life.

With the "changing of the guard" soon to occur, many of the local alumni (Fortune 500 as JWB called them), in my opinion, will take all measures to insure their interests are secured. Mark my words!!

Ya think?

There's MUCH that can be done gents...

For example, look at what all PHC has done over the past two years...a LOT. True, we have yet to reach our goal of BOM/MHS reform so that our benefactor's mission is operating as he intended yet much progress has been made. While MHSAA should be the watchdog, for now...they're not so recognize the mission of PHC and publicly support our goals of BOM/MHS reform.

And by "support", what I'm referring to is letting any of your alumni friends know who we are...our purpose and why YOU agree. Yes, I recognize that many would like to see reform of MHSAA yet my intuition is that will happen when most begin to realize they'll no longer get freebies from the MHS Administration. When those who are involved primarily for self-serving reasons realize they'll get nothing I believe they'll disappear. When they do, MHSAA will return to the watchdog organization it once was AND have good guys like Chalmers/Jenkins and others restore good fundraising and good times at Homecoming too.

Bottom line...keep speaking out for what is right. I can assure you...even by just doing that is a LOT of involved support.

Thanks....

Steve, I don't know

either. The only way to solve anything is unity in purpose. 10 people get more attention then one. 100 get more attention then ten.

We are in deep shit right now. An escalating debt that will take 100 years to solve. We have have to stop the "Change" that is taking place. If we do not stop this socialist ideology from gaining a foothold on our country we will be in a civil war that will make the first one seem tame. I know, you all my think I am going over the deep end, but this one will be a military coup to overthrow a government that wants 100% control over our freedoms. I do not want this to happen, but I am well armed and prepared for anything.

9000 pieces of "PORK" in the new budget. I blame both Republicans and Dem's for this. Obama said during his campaign "there would be a 1 year moratorium on entitlements", Lie #5. The fn Republicans are traders too. All congress men and women want is to be reelected. I thought to serve our country was an honor, but these pretenders have turned it into a criminal enterprise.

Clint, I agree

but we must not forget to address all grievances. We must be heard and if we stay silent, we are losing. Our country and our school seem to be going in the same direction, Washington, DC in a hand basket.

I do what I can to be a part of the solution. I am now fully retired and I am scared to death I will loose what money I have left. 3 years ago I would be collecting $40,000 a year on my investments plus my SS. Now I have lost half and scared about the half that is left. I keep fighting to put whats left in the right places, but Obama is killing us. The stock market and mutual funds are worth nothing and gold is one place I have some of my money, but who knows what that will be worth in 6 months.

I pity you young guys and gals. You are in a terrible position and I see no immediate help coming from anywhere. Put away every penny you can and pray things get better. I am telling you this is the time to be frugal and be cautious of all you spending and plz don't charge things unless it is an emergency. Pay cash if at all possible.

Obama has put more debt on us all in three weeks then Bush did in 8 years and he had to deal with 9/11 and a war on two fronts. Believe what you want, but we are in dire straights with no sight of an improving economy for a long time.

My problem is this

What can I do about it? What does me getting upset that something else in our country isn't working right really accomplish? It is sad and I don't know what else to say about it. There are a lot of things that are sad right now.

It really is sad

that it has come to this. Such a great school with a great purpose, that the focus is being blurred because everyone is concentrating on covering their own asses and lining their own pockets, stealing from the hand that literally fed them!
