MHS Announces Spartan Hall of Fame 2008
Milton Hershey School created the Spartan Hall of Fame to recognize the noteworthy accomplishments of members of the Milton Hershey School family in the areas of Athletics and the Visual and Performing Arts. This award recognizes the recipients’ achievements while at MHS in hopes of inspiring current and future MHS students.
Below are the 2008 inductees into the Spartan Hall of Fame who will be honored at a special ceremony, held in conjunction with Homecoming, on Friday, October 3, at 1:30 p.m. in Founders Hall Auditorium. Alumni and friends are invited to join MHS Senior Division students and staff as we recognize the achievements of these special individuals.

• Helped MHS students learn the many skills for playing a musical instrument, using that skill to perform in the instrumental music ensembles at the School and beyond, and at the same time always pursuing excellence and an appreciation of how music plays an important part in our lives.
• 7th & 8th Grade Band marched in Hershey Halloween and Memorial Day Parades, and eventually combined with the Senior Hall Varsity Band in a field show during all Homecomings.
• 6th-8th Grade Bands performed “Concerts on the Lawn” outside the music suite every Parents’ Weekend
• Memorial Hall Band performed a concert before the variety show every Parents’ Weekend
• Spartan Orchestra/Jazz Band regularly performed at local jazz band festivals in central Pennsylvania, and were in demand to play for special functions at the Hotel Hershey and Hershey Lodge.
• Varsity Marching Band was a regular participant in Miss America Pageant Parade in Atlantic City. The band also traveled to Winchester, Va., to play in the annual Apple Blossom Parade.
• Varsity Marching Band participated in adjudication festivals in Wildwood, N.J., Washington, D.C., as well as “Music in the Park” at Hershey, and at Jackson, N.J.
