How to save money on your prescriptions
I just found out that our insurance company will pay the same for a 30 day prescription as it will for a 90 day one.
I spoke with my doctor today and asked him to write me up new prescriptions for 90 days, and, asked him to double the prescription strength so I can cut the pills in half.
He also gave me 4 refills on each prescription.
30 days prescription # 1 costs me $40 in copay.
30 days prescription # 2 costs me $25 in copay.
For a total of $65.
With the new way its costing me $10.83 a month.
Over six months that is a savings of $390.00.
Not too bad!
Check with your insurance company if they do this. I guess it's not uncommon.
Did you know that if you go to Rite Aid and let them know that a competitor charges less, they will price match it? Even the $4 Walmart ones.
Also, I take Imitrex and it costs $45 WITH my insurance ($260 without). Well, there is now a generic for it! That means it will only be $3 woohoo
Maybe it was just my luck.... but I thought I would try out the CVS/Caremark mail order prescription offered through our insurance company. (mails out of Horsham, Pa) big mistake!! messed up my prescriptions, mailed some twice mailed 1 that I told them not to even fill, and billed me through the nose big $$! Took 3 weeks to straighten it out and get my money refunded. Never again!! Buyer beware!!

are Bystolic and Lexapro. Not available in generic yet, either.
I'm lucky so far, of the 4 that I have to take 3 are wal-mart $4 generic specials and the last one that I take for allergies is $24 and there is no generic till 2012..
