Cats are OK

Cool But I don't need another. I have one got her as a kitten had her fixed right away and she stays in the house. I have 1 dog. We are going to breed her once then have her fixed. I too live in the country and have seen boxes tossed out with 5 or 6 kittens at a time in them. A few years ago we had such a cat problem in the area the one neighbor that has a few house/outside cats told his brother and me if you see a stray (has no collar on) then it should be considered small game. So then one day my neighbor came to me and said he just accidently shot a cat with a collar on it. We never told his brother what the car looked like that hit the poor cat laying in road with a collar around it's neck. But with all the cats we had around we didn't have many rabbits in the yard. Also a few years ago I had a Great Dane that would catch and kill birds. I was always afraid of one of the cats killing my Great Dane.

I sat Popoki and Tita down and told them they must never go near your house. Fat chance of that anyway as I don't let them outside (willingly)! >^..^< >^..^<

Speaking of Cats

I meant to post this here, but I accidentally posted it under another thread.

The other night I kept hearing a meowing outside of our house, it was raining and really cold, after dinner I kept hearing it, so I opened the door to our back porch and there was this cat just sitting there, meowing. I knew it wasn't a stray cat because it was clean, it was rather healthy looking, and it wasn't freaked out my by the kids, it was very friendly. The kids were so excited to see it, and they played with it for a little bit outside. It didn't have a collar on it, or any tatoo markings on it to say whom it belonged to. It kept trying to get into the house, so I knew it was a house cat, it was young and a male ( still had it's claws, and not neutered either) So, I went to our neighbor whom I knew had a cat,it looked like their cat but it wasn't, she gave me some food for it to eat, I took it and put it in our garage, and gave it some food, got a blanket for it to sleep on, and gave it some water. Mike refused to let it in the house, and refused to let us keep it, he said if we wanted to keep the cat, we had to give up one of our kids (he was kidding about the kid thing, but not about the cat) Well, last night I went up and down our block asking people if it was their's and no one knew whom it belonged too, the cat was on our porch last night before dinner, after that we couldn't find it, so I figured it went back to where ever it came from. This morning my son Joshua comes in our room, and he says mommy, the cat is up in the tree, I thought he was making it up, but sure enough it was stuck up in our tree in front of our house, and refused to come down. I put food in front of the tree to see if it would jump down but nope, it must have been up there all night long. Our fire department no longer does "Cat" or animal calls that get stuck up in a tree.

Luckily for the cat, our neighbor across the street came home from work in the afternoon, and saw him up in our tree, here it turned out to be her cat. She said she had been looking all over for him for the past few days, but never thought that he would end up across the street, so she didn't bother looking on the other side. It was a good thing they saw him, because I was probably going to take him to an animal shelter tomorrow. My boys were very upset that the cat is no longer here, my son Jonah Bleh this one, was here when the neighbors came and got the cat out of our tree, he came inside and kind of threw a fit because he wanted to keep it.

My husband (gobosox) is NOT an animal person, or a pet person, so if any of you ever loose a pet, and it wonders to our house, just pray for it. LOL

I was tempted to ask 'a cast in what show', but I'll be serious.

I realize that people 'dropping off' unwanted animals is a big problem. That's why I said if one won't make the commitment, they shouldn't get a pet. A lot of it is an education problem - many people think of pets as 'living toys'; when they tire of them, just toss them aside. As humans, we do have a responsibility to care for animals as much as we can. Even just being humane to them is a good way to be responsible.

The problem with living in the country

Is that people drop their unwanted cats off. Add to it that cat's wander over from neighboring farms. We have had pet cats in the past and have always gotten them neutered. We even had a cat that fell out of a tree and broke his leg. This cat would sleep twenty feet up, and somehow lost his balance. He ended up in a cast.

Thanks for sharing this. A lot of my friends on Pethobbyist.com are involved in cat rescue and spay/neuter/release programs for ferals, plus many of them foster. It is a worthy cause, one that I support.
My two little ones have given me tons of love and companionship since I have had them. I do consider them as members of my family.

A Better Solution

is to spay or neuter your pet. Cats/dogs abandoned, etc. by people is extremely cruel to the animal. Most cats in the wild only live about 3 years average. I don't know the figures for dogs in the same situation, but it can't be any better. If you're going to get a pet, it should be a commitment for the lifetime of the animal. If you can't make that commitment, then don't get a pet!!!!

The perfect solution to controlling feral cats?

Have wild red hawks released into your area. They'll clear 'um right out!

Clint / Keoni,

I haven't seen much on cats but I did get this one today!
It's about computer monitor screen cleaners.
