Class Rings
We got on this subject last night because Jordan asked last night when we would be getting his class ring. He's a Junior! I thought you got them when you were a Senior, but, what do I know?!
So, we got on the topic of mine and Bill's class rings.........
Who still has theirs and whose still fits?!?!?!?
I can answer in the affirmative to both!!!!!
Yes I am. Also wearing MHS shirt out tonight.
you're wearing it this weekend.
I still wear mine on occasions. I have decided to make it a tradition for me to wear it during homecoming weekend whether I am in Hershey for homecoming or still in Ohio because I couldn't make it back. I do make it back every 5 years but I really need to be there more often.
I still have a milt ring, and i still wear it on some occasions, I wear it as a symbol of accomplishment, that I graduated from an exclusive school (Then it was thought of as one) and joined a club not many can join: MHS Alumni. Too me, that says it all. I, like others, am proud of my ring given to us as seniors.
My ring doesnt fit very well anymore. It must be a full size too small. I dont know what the h-e-double hockey sticks happened to my hands.
I almost lost my ring once. My girlfriend at the time had it. Dumbness looking back on it. But I had a few sleepless nights until she returned my ring. I agree with the crowd though..I earned that ring. I expect that it'll be pried off the dead carcass.
I will look into that.. would like to have that to keep on too for memories..
This is where you can get another Class Ring. They are located in Palmyra, PA.

You should talk to Dulio on here.....apparently as a surprise someone had his replaced! Maybe you can replace yours.
I was so young and dumb so I gave my class ring to my (then) honey who lost it w/in a few days of me giving it to him.. I was so upset but I did have another class ring that my mom got for me that I kept for awhile but that is gone too..where.. I am not sure..
but it is too big at the moment. Unless I wear it on my index finger... but I've got it and it still looks good.
Mine still fits! I wore it to work the other day. I don't want it to get lonely sitting all by herself in the jewelry box, so she makes an appearance every now and again.

I haven't tried it on for awhile though, the last time I did it fit my pinky. Ha!
Your question about when you get your rings. When we graduated, it was always on Monday and we got our rings on the friday before. I guess they wanted to make sure that you were going to graduate before they gave them to you.
My class ring has never been off my hand in all these years.
I've even had a couple surgeries and they said the rinds have to go. well I told them the wedding ring can come off, but the class ring stays PERIOD...so they just wrapped it with tape. My 2 sons keep telling me that they are going to buy me a new one for my birthday or Christmas but nothing yet. Oh well...can't get this one off anyway.
Phil
that starting this thread about our class rings would've popped up all of these wonderful stories........
I never would've thunk it in a million years!!!!
I'll be around!!!
In fact the children and my husband will be around off and on as well, I so want you to meet them!
xoxoxoxxoxoxo
You are so right my darling!!!!!
Very Cool Don. Oh what a feeling.
Well my first year out of the Milt I was out with some friends here in Florida celebrating spring break. Last I remebered it was in a bathroom I took it off to wash my hands. That was spring of 89.
Three years ago, I was chattin with a fellow classmate and Milt. It was the week of Hurricane Charlie. Either way, my buddy says to me, I should send you your class ring. I was like, WHAT? (picture the cartoons where their head spins wildly out of control) I think my head did that. I honestly asked him to repeat what he had said like three times. Being that about 14 years later, He is saying he has my ring. I was happy and angry at the same time. I was like Fed Ex it to me emmediately. He put it in the mail and I remember getting a call the day Charlie made land fall, north of my home in Port Charlotte, that I had a package. I drove home to get it in hopes to have my ring back at last. The gaurd gate was told only to let in Emergency workers because of the weather conditions. I refused to be turned away, and demanded to be let in to go to my home. It was pouring rain, and I got out of my car and ran to my door, to see a small package lying against my front door.
I tore it open, like a kid on Christmas day. I couldn't believe that I had my rind back. To this day, there is still no explanation as to why this person had MY ring. At any rate, I have it back. It doesn't fit well, but I can squeeze it on. but I don't wear it. It sits in a box that I bought for it, in my medicine cabinet.

Mare,
I once was at a mall and came upon a jeweler who was cleaning jewelry for free. I let them clean my Class Ring. It ate all of the Bronzing off (the black stuff). I was furious. Needless to say, they had my Class Ring sent out to get re Bronzed. It is beautiful once again. So you could take it to a jeweler and have them re Bronze it.

they fit...I would assume, but they are kept in my jewelry box...see i have a ruby ring on my right hand that Murf gave me as a "promise" ring, and my wedding and engagement ring are on the other hand, so that is all the jewelry i can handle for now on my hands. I still treasure my class ring though.
Would have been the husband for three kids.
I would call that a blessed trade - 3 beautiful children for a ring! See ya at Homecoming?

What a great story! Your ex indeed was a jerk.
I am not eligible for a ring. However, my dad allowed my mom to wear his and she lost it. She lost it at the next to last home they owned before divorcing. So.... someday I would like to take a metal detector and try and find it.
Mary,
Take your ring to a jeweler. They can blacken it for you. I believe it's called Patina.
Mine is gone, but I have something much, much better.
So way back in the day, this would be about 15 years ago, my ex husband and I were struggling with fertility issues. I wanted a baby desperately, he was rather ho-hum about the whole thing.
After a year I was about out of hope and the doctor suggested I try fertility drugs, which were NOT covered by our insurance and terribly expensive. I BEGGED my ex husband to cash in some CDs and Bonds, and he refused, such a jerk! So I sold everything valuable that I had, my class ring, a few pieces of jewelry left to me by an aunt, some antique linens..everything. I got enough money for one round of fertility drugs, and guess what, nine months later Faith Elizabeth made her way into the world
I am blessed beyond measure because 19 months later Scott was born; and six years after that Eamonn was born!
I owe Milton and Catherine Hershey so very much!
I still have mine and wear it everyday. The black is worn off but I don't really care. I don't care that it's the only gold ring i wear and everything else is Silver. I worked damn hard for it and I'll wear it proudly.
Hey Dulio, you could check with Dori Farkas, she maybe a good person to start with to replace your diploma. I don't know but it doesn't hurt to try.
Dulio - they carved your diplomas out of stone? haha Just kidding. You should try the alumni office as to where to get a new one. They would certainly be able to point you in the right direction on getting a new one.
Tree88
Me Crazy? I resemble that remark!
I'm really not sure where you get these assumptions from. I'm pure as the driven snow and definitely innocent!
I'm sorry, I almost snarfed my coffee. I think I need a tissue :koff koff:
Still have mine, still wear it.
There's a story involving wearing it in a certain gentlemen's club, but that's a story best told off-line.
I graduated way before you and they hadn't even invented writing back then. We just had Gronk come with us to the job interview and he grunted to testify that we had finished our education!
P.S. Oh, and Unc, just go along with me on this one, OK?
Vicki I think Clint is the one that has to watch his back! As much as I love ya, you're the crazy one! I've got proof!!!!

Planning something? I am innocent.
Yeah, I'm definitely watching my back now!
Planning something? I am innocent.
Is that Mr. Clint Murphy actually agreeing with me????? Are you sucking up? What are you planning????
One thing I lost and never found was my Diploma. Who do you contact to get another copy of that?
I know, you are probably thinking... Didn't they carve them in stone back then???
I heard now days you need to take your Diploma as proof of Graduation for a job. Is that true?
Vick! Sorry. But you did help a little bit. :burp:
I just miss you all so much and need to be around people who are fun.
Tree88
I had no desire to buy the class ring from the school I graduated from either...I totally agree with you on that one Vickster.
I also didn't bother to buy one for the school that I actually ended up graduating from. It just didn't mean the same thing.
...
Wish I would have stayed in.
Woohoo! So did I talk ya into in? Can I take credit? ROFL Ya gotta come party with us.
I'm with you on wearing silver or white gold. But I still have some gold safely packed away in my jewelry box too. I have actually decided to try and come to homecoming this year. I'd like to try and come up on Thursday for the annual party but it all depends on whether my ex boss will pay me some more of the money she owes me. If not, I'll have to wait until Friday to come up. But I'll be there! Woo Hoo!
Oh and Dulio - I don't know who gave you your ring but they're AWESOME!!!!
Tree88
I have mine somewhere. I think my wife hid it from me!!!!
The manhunt is on
I lost my original ring in 1980, the day my father died. Being a Lifer at the Milt the ring meant a whole lot to me. I was surprised one Christmas with a very large present that was supposed to be an exchange gift. Every box I opened was another wrapped gift box and another and another till I finally got down to a very small gift box which i thought was empty (thats just the kind of pranks we pull at christmas). Inside the last little gift box was my new Class Ring. I had no clue this was coming and was hysterical. I just love my ring.
I even created it in Photoshop.
I've been thinking about you and was going to e-mail you to see how things were going. Glad to see you came in to visit us!!!! ;-)
I had mine in my jewelry chest because, for one, I wear mostly all white gold or silver, and two, I thought it didn't fit! I was very pleasantly surprised when I tried it on last night.
And it still fits! I wear it from time to time. (with the mhs pointing out on my right ring finger)
And I can tell you that sometimes I'd love to "ring" someone with it too.

mine which still fits (although tight) and Chuck's, which still fits also. We wear them proudly, although not all the time.
