Brag Board

Last night we had the pleasure of attending another one of Jordan's award ceremonies. It was once again a humbling experience. Jordan's coach has shared with us privately how he felt about Jordan and how he felt about us as parents. However, it was extremely humbling to watch him share it with the entire athletic student body, directors, administrators, etc. We all must remember as adults that we too never stop learning, and sometimes, those lessons do come from those who WE are trying to teach ourselves. This was the speech that the coach gave last night, and published.
"Criticism can be easily avoided by saying nothing, by doing nothing, by being nothing. Special people, however, risk criticism every time they perform. The more that you risk in life, the more you accomplish, but with each risk comes the possibility of criticism. I have the utmost respect for Jordan Mason because this past year he showed me what character is all about. He did not want to play it safe; he was willing to go for it; to risk it all.
In 2007 Jordan Mason was cut from the Cedar Crest soccer team. When players are cut as underclassmen, they often find another sport to play. Then might find another interest. Or they might get into trouble. Not this young man. He loved soccer and wanted to play the sport that he loved, so for an entire year Jordan worked to make himself better. He showed up at every summer work out. He risked it all while others doubted him. Throughout the summer that uncertainty hung over his head, but there have been few players that showed me as much heart and character as this young man.
So was it worth the risk for Jordan? Not only did Jordan make the team, but on Senior Night, in front of his family, Jordan scored his first career goal. And he did it just hours after being released from the hospital with a broken arm that he had broken in gym class earlier that day... playing soccer. Jordan Mason was willing to risk it all, playing the sport that he loves!! Special things happen to special people. I am just proud to have been part of this young man's experience."

She was one of the better ones as I said, but mostly because of her height, she was placed on the development team....and she really looked out of place there. It didn't help that the coaches father would come and yell at the girls after each game saying what an embarrassment they were.
I almost gave him a piece of my mind.

The wee one is very active and I always end up helping at the scorers table so we don't get to tape anymore. Luckily another parent shot this and sent it to me.
Alexa is a 6th grader so this is youth club stuff. How was your daughter's season?

My 12 year old Alyssa who is in 7th grade this year has had straight A's the entire year!!!! Woo hoo, and 7th grade is a tough year in Manheim Central, everyone says 8th is a breeze compared to 7th. Sabrina is in 9th grade and got all A's and B's the second quarter, and A's B's and one C first quarter...I am glad she is not having the trouble I had in 9th grade.
I had a lot of trouble that year. Isaiah got all B's and one D+ which was really good for him, and Vicky got all B's....she could def. do better, but B's arent bad.

My son likes to get daddy's soda out of the fridge for him, yes it is that cute.
BUT- you should have seen the look my wife gave me when he brought me a beer and even knows the differce,
it was acutally quite funny, but for some reason my wife does not see it that way???
can't figure out why?????
:-]

My oldest son (has special needs) just started back to REGULAR school!!! It's just a resource class so far but it is in hte regular High School! Pat has been out of regular school since Third grade. I wasn't sure he'd ever be able to go back. Not only is he in regular High school but he is receiving 100% EVERY day on behavior points!!!!

Don't worry about that. I didn't take it as a rant. Believe me I asked myself the same question about the TV. I talked to him yesterday and they hooked up our surround sound system that we gave him so they think they are pretty cool.
p.s. They probably won't even have any time to use any of that junk.

Her team Manheim Central played the horrible Hershey Trojans today and with the score of 1-1 in the last ten seconds of the game the ball was near Manheims goal...I mean right in front of the goal, and when the goalie was taking a nap, i mean looking the other way, Alyssa got the ball from right at the goal line and drove it out of the circle before the clock went out! it was a proud moment and a great game.

It is to late to brag now but I can still remember when my daughter was 4 or 5 years old. As I was driving she could accurately identify road kill. My son wasn't that good at road kill but he was pretty good at identifying scat when we were hiking. Neither of these things impressed the wife.

Now THAT is what having a son is all about! You did give him high 5's and all right?
"daddy, I just farted, ooo stinky"

I'm a firm believer in retail therapy but a flat-screen tv? He's in college and roommates do stupid things. I hope the tv is Ok at the end of the year. Does he at least have a computer? That would be something he could really use.[/quote]
Yes, a laptop was the first thing we bought. He actually bought it with money he had gotten for graduation and has had all summer to get used to it. I hope the TV will be ok. He actually went to high school with one roommate and the other roommates parents actually offered to pay money towards it. I guess if something happens to it I will probably freak out.
Would that be called buyer's remorse?

Okay, I know we are all proud of something, many somethings, so tell us about it!!!!
We just got Casey's final report card. She was certain she was not going to make the Honor Roll again this marking period. However, much to her surprise, once again, she did indeed make the Honor Roll. She is an A/B Student just like her mother was!!!!! I'm so proud!!!!!
We have not gotten Jordan's however, theirs seem to take a little longer due to final exams. However, he did get into AP Bio, which he was completely psyched about!!!!! He was told he is certainly capable of taking all Honors courses, but his "lack of commitment" is what is holding him back. I think his Biology teacher is giving him the benefit of the doubt and allowing him to prove himself. He is now a Junior!!!!! Which in and of itself is something to brag about!
Your turn........
