Anyone know how to get rid of a sinus infection
Does anyone know how to get rid of a sinus infection, w/o taking antibiotics? I've had one for about a week now, and the pain is driving me NUTS!!!: sick: I've had both of my boys to the doctor in the past two days, my son Jonah has an ear infection in BOTH ears, and he has croup, so he's using a nebulizer to help with that, and the Xopenex that goes in the nebulizer is 50 bucks (even with our insurance). My son Joshua was just at the Asthma and Allergy Specialist this morning because he's been wheezing and his asthma has been acting up since Saturday. We went to my nephew's birthday party and my brother-in-law and sister-in-law brought their dog up, I had no idea they were bringing their dog, so I didn't bring any allergy or asthma meds with me for Joshua. Within a half hour of being there, my eyes started to itch, my throat started to feel like it was closing up, I asked my mother-in-law if she knew if there were animals in the house, and she said, yea, they have their dog up in the bedroom (they came up from Virginia) I haven't had an asthma attack in YEARS, I can't tell you the last time I've had to use a rescue inhaler, and I had to use one on Saturday, I knew if it was bothering me, it would bother Joshua even more, and sure enough, it set off his asthma. We've probably spent close to 150.00 bucks on meds in the past two days, not including co pays for the doctor, so right now, I honestly CAN NOT afford to go the my doctor pay another co pay, and pay for another prescription. To make it even worse, Jonah's 4th birthday was on Saturday, we didn't really celebrate it because my sister-in-law decided to have her son's 1st birthday party that day (yea, I know how considerate), but Jonah was soooo sick, and miserable that day, we came home, and he passed out on the couch, he didn't even want to eat any of the cake I made for him, or open the present we got him.
So, if anyone knows how to get rid of a sinus infection without the tradition drugs, I would be willing to try anything right now, because I've hardly been sleeping because of the pain, and having 3 sick kids, and a very tired miserable mommy, isn't a good thing. I've been taking Aleve, and a sinus decongestant for about a week now, and using saline drops
Thanks everyone, but I broke down and got an antibiotic. I think the infection started spreading all around the left side of my face, all around my left cheek bone is really sore, and up around my eye. I don't understand why I keep getting them, and it's only on my left side. I had two when I was pregnant with my daughter Alexis, and ever since then, it seem like I'm prone to them for some reason.
Don, I tried draining my nose out (what you suggested in your message to me) but the left side on my nose was so block, that it wasn't come out the other side. Hopefully, the antibiotics kick in soon, they better because I had to pay an arm and a leg for it, even with my insurance.
At the first sign of a cold I now start taking Mucenex..sp? with a full 8oz of water, it seems to not allow the pressure to build in my head and face. This last cold I had right at New Years Eve only lasted a week and it didn't get as bad as usual nor did it turn to bronchitis like it usually does.
this is one area I am a near expert in....
I have BAD problems with my sinuses. Neilmed sinus rinse really helps, more info here including where to find it locally, many places carry it, not expensive. http://www.neilmed.com/ use 2 packets each time you use it. I use it once a week when I'm healthy and 1-2 times a day when I'm having sinus problems.
The next item is not as easy to find, at least here in Virginia where I'm at. It's called ponaris. http://www.ponaris.net some info from their site. Hope this helps, it works for me. Ponaris is very strong, piney smelling, not real pleasant, but it really helps!

The trouble with sinus infection is that if is not treated right you can never get rid of it, it will come back every time you get a cold. Sure there are various home remedies for sinus infection but the best advice I can give you is go see a doctor, have a complete treatment and then check if it's completely gone.
