Any advice for getting a kid off to college?
I am getting my 17 yr ready for college and it's been a real chore. She would rather run around with her friends then get to the stores and get the things she needs. This battle has been really worrysome for me, so I am counting the days till I drop her off. What ever she does not have, she does not need. I will not be pulled into last minute drama, I mean it, I chant it like a mantra!

When I wrote that Bridget has a hard time giving up control, I chose my words very badly. Bridget isn't controling Bridget is the best Mom I know and she just wants to make sure Margaret is ready and well equipt to put forth her best foot as she starts this new stage in her life.

The only problem with this is that Bridget has a hard time giving up control and her daughter has a hard time taking control, because she know that even though she fights it her mom will take great care of her. If I can help in any way give me a ring. Maybe if I suggest on outing for the three of us Margaret might be willing.

give her the list of what she needs,a deadline and let it go.
If she doesn't have it when she leaves it was her choice. She might learn the hard way but she'll learn.
It'll be harder on you than her.

just start placing marine corps flyers and stuff around the house for her to see, tell her it's the alternative....
