Wow, what a weekend!
We had an EXTREMELY busy weekend!!!!
Aside from the Easter Holiday, my sister's birthday, Chloe's birthday and celebrating my son's birthday (whose birthday is actually next weekend), Linda's birthday, which we did not have the opportunity to help celebrate in person, but, we did not forget, we BOTH remembered, and took the time to send her our wishes, we also decided that we needed to take advantage of the long weekend to put in a second bathroom in our mother-in-law suite!!!!! (Which has been planned for SEVERAL months, like since last year!!!!!)
I must say, I was surprised and amazed that we accomplished ALL that we set out to accomplish this weekend. It made for some REALLY late nights (well, technically some really early mornings), and we are EXHAUSTED, but, it was well worth it!
We were able to completely tear out the 8x4 room down to studs and concrete within two hours time. The hardest part, and longest time wise was trying to dig the trench (through the concrete foundation of the house) for the shower drain, which Bill had to do by himself. Once that was done, and he and Jordan got the drain all together and cemented in, we were set to go. We have drywall back up and spackled and ready to paint. We have the tile down on the floor, and the shower base in place. Tonight we will be sanding and painting and hopefully will have enough time to install the toilet. Tomorrow night will be installing the rest of the plumbing for the shower and the shower. What then remains is the ceiling tiles with the exhaust fan and lighting, the sink and base molding. Just in time for us to have a nice, relaxing weekend, which will be much needed, necessary, and NOT AN OPTION!
And, other than our Saturday morning coffee and crepe break being brought short by a minor water softener emergency (which Jordan had well under control by the time we got home), we've had no MAJOR issues with this project, all is going smoothly!)
Bill's the man!!!!!
I can't wait until the project is complete and I can share pictures of our completed project. I will share our before pictures, as I did remember to take them!
